Restaurant Vestermølle (same in English) – Stella, oh, Stella

… In January I had promised you a post about this great restaurant, and then the moving got in the way, and my posts were rather limited in number since then. This will continue for a while: on the one hand I have plans for the garden, and on the other hand we have those two music events for which we have to seriously rehearse. We got a bit behind because of the moving. But we are getting there, we don’t wish to embarrass ourselves, do we?

… Now to the restaurant that we found on our way back home from Vejle (visit to the superb heart „specialist“). It is situated at Skanderborg-Lake, just opposite Skanderborg, and about half an hour by car south of Aarhus. When you are traveling north, a little detour would be worth the while. The „smørrebrød“ (open sandwich with lots of stuff on top, here unfortunately not vegetarian) was delicious and the local beer very drinkable.

… There is a little local museum connected to the restaurant. One can rent several rooms and pavilions of different sizes for parties.

… If one has eaten too much, one can walk around the little lake behind the restaurant …

… or walk up the path into the woods.

… Those who are interested in geology, will find a hut there, where one can get information about the ochre deposits that have been found in the area as well as its scope of application.

… I found this insect hotel rather impressive. My small hanging ones cannot compete, but they as well have their use.

… And finally two maps so that you can get an impression, where exactly this restaurant is situated. By the way, I am not being paid for advertising, I am doing it voluntarily and free of charge.

… There are a lot of small lakes in that area.

Former Alito Clerk Flips On Old Boss Over Upside Down Flag – Above the Law

…Sullivan appeared on MSNBC expressing just how problematic Alito’s penchant for flying flags favored by insurrectionists really is. “I was aghast when I saw those photographs because I’ve never known Justice Alito to be anything other than an honorable man, to be a man of integrity,” Sullivan said. “It is irrelevant if Mrs. Alito flew it or not. The fact is that flag was there.”

“This is not an insignificant symbol,” she continued. “Irrespective of why it is there, who put it there, it shouldn’t have been there. The problem is that flag is incendiary and it cannot do anything other than raise a reasonable inference of bias.”

Hiccups  – Kaushal Kishore

🕳️🕳️🕳️🕳️🕳️🕳️

Once, when hiccups struck, I’d feel a spark,

Believing someone missed me from afar…

But now I drink water, a task mundane,

Knowing no one’s thinking of me again…

.

P.S.

It is believed that getting hiccups means someone is either talking about you or missing you. Sipping cold water can help stop hiccups.

US adds 272,000 jobs as labor market holds unexpectedly strong | US unemployment and employment data | The Guardian

The US economy added 272,000 jobs in May, a sign the labor market remained strong amid high interest rates, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced on Friday.

The number of May jobs was far higher than the 190,000 economists had expected and topped April’s gains, when a revised 165,000 jobs were added to the economy. The report offered a mixed view of the jobs market. The unemployment rate rose to 4% for the first time since January 2022, up from 3.9% in April.

The White House celebrated the news, which comes amid enduring public skepticism about the economy. “The great American comeback continues, but we still have to make more progress,” Joe Biden said in a statement. “On my watch, 15.6 million more Americans have the dignity and respect that comes with a job.”

On Kindness … | Filosofa’s Word

I was sifting through my email this morning when I came across John Pavlovitz’ newsletter/post … the title caught my eye, so I took a couple of minutes to read the post and I was glad I did.  John echoes my own thoughts, but he expresses them far better than I ever could, so let me share them with you …

A SIMPLE GUIDE TO NOT BEING AN A**HOLE

The Subversive Activism of Human Kindness

By John Pavlovitz

07 June 2024

Friend, this really isn’t difficult.

I see you making everything harder than it has to be.

All your striving and searching and pontificating is overcomplicating things and it’s distracting you.

You’re not going to find what you need where you’ve been looking.

You already have it.

There is no magic elixir to ingest, no secret incantation to exhale, no perfectly worded prayer you need to recite, no carefully concealed cipher you have to decode in order to uncover the way to live well to leave a legacy worth surviving you.

You don’t need to wait for a politician to legislate it, a religious leader to carry it down from a cloud-shrouded mountaintop, a shimmering pop star to sing it loudly from a stadium stage, or a grinning self-help guru to deliver it in slick multimedia conference center presentations.

The secret of this far-too brief appearance on the planet isn’t buried in a dusty religious text or a current airport book store bestseller just waiting to be revealed to only those select few anointed pilgrims whose souls are properly receptive.

And you don’t need a church service, election result, protest march, or hashtag campaign to begin the necessary revolution.

The answer is startlingly simple and it’s as close as the heart within your chest.

If you want to know how to be the type of person the world needs right now, just be kind.

That’s it…
