After the attack, WCK paused operations in the territory and turned its flotilla of ships back to Cyprus.
The undelivered aid was part of a consignment of about 340 tonnes sent to Gaza from Cyprus – the aid workers killed in Gaza had just finished unloading 100 tonnes when they were killed.
WCK’s suspension of operations – with pauses from other aid organisations including Anera and Project Hope – have renewed fears that the humanitarian situation in Gaza could decay further.
How important is external aid to the people of Gaza?
Since 2007, Gaza has been subject to a strict land and sea blockade by Israel that prevents civilians and goods such as food and medicine from moving easily across the border. Israel says the blockade is necessary to limit Hamas’s access to weapons.
“This war is not being conducted in ways that respect the protections provided under international humanitarian law,” said Ciarán Donnelly, the Senior Vice President of International Programs at the IRC.
The humanitarian group, International Rescue Committee (IRC), says the killing of international charity workers this week by an Israeli air strike highlights that Gaza is the “most lethal place in the world to be an aid worker.”
Israeli airstrikes on World Central Kitchen aid workers delivering food in Gaza killed at least seven people – including a U.S.-Canada dual citizen and citizens of Australia, Poland and the United Kingdom on Monday.

This song was one of my favourites back in 1981 and 1982. It was Human League, from the UK, and the video is too cool. (I would say one of the things I like the most about watching movies and videos from those years is that nobody pulls out a mobile phone from their pocket and starts texting, bloody hell!).
I really do believe that this is one of his superpowers:

Joe Biden, through his understanding of government and his ability to hire the most qualified people, has made our government work better for everyday Americans simply by fixing already existing programs.
I have said it for awhile now – the reason that the MSM dislikes President Biden is because of the competency of his Administration. In order to discuss the Biden Administration, you have to know and understand POLICY. They would rather be stenographers. They don’t want to have to understand and explain POLICY.
President Biden has been in government a long time. He has actually learned things over the years.
And, he comes from a philosophy of that the government can be used to HELP PEOPLE…
“The kind of behaviour that really is spiritual practice consists of refraining from falsehood and abiding by the truth, neither humiliating nor mocking others, being humble, and having a good heart and helping others.”
A fun record from 1989 that was showcased by a great feel-good video. I never bought it, nor anything else the band recorded. But I loved to listen to it on the car radio, and still can’t help smiling whenever I hear it now. Some really good lyrics too, including “I got me a car that’s as big as a whale”.
Sheer energy. We could do with some more of that from modern records.
It’s easy to become disheartened by all the noise being made by Citizen Trump and his co-conspirators this election year, but frankly I don’t picture any scenario whereby he actually wins the election in November. Not one, as long as we all do our part and VOTE. For one thing, he doesn’t even have the support of his former staff, and that says a LOT!
Some choice quotes from Trump’s own folks.
Former Secretary of Defense, Mark T. Esper: Trump is not “fit for office because he puts himself first, and I think anybody running for office should put the country first.”
Former Secretary of Defense, James Mattis: “His use of the Presidency to destroy trust in our election and to poison our respect for fellow citizens has been enabled by pseudo political leaders whose names will live in infamy as profiles in cowardice.”
Former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly: Trump is “a person that has no idea what America stands for and has no idea what America is all about.”
Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley: “The reality is, rightly or wrongly, chaos follows him, and we all know that’s true. We can’t have a country in disarray and a world on fire and go through four more years of chaos. We won’t survive it.”
Former National Security Advisor John Bolton: There will be “celebrations in the Kremlin” if Trump is elected in November, adding: “Putin thinks that he is an easy mark.”
Former Vice-President Mike Pence: “I cannot in good conscience endorse Donald Trump in this campaign.”
Former Attorney General William Barr: “Voting for Trump is playing Russian roulette with the country. I have made clear that I strongly oppose Trump for the nomination and will not endorse Trump.”
Former Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney has begun the “big public gathering” stage of her anti-Trump crusade, and she can draw a crowd, too. She was in Des Moines, Iowa last week and filled a stadium of people hungry to hear her pro-democracy message.
“We know [Trump] tried once not to leave office, and he will have no incentive to guarantee a peaceful transfer of power and to leave office should he be elected again…
As frustrated as I know people get sometimes with policy disagreements you might have — and I certainly have policy disagreements with the Biden administration — I know the nation can survive bad policy. We can’t survive a president who is willing to torch the Constitution.”
A significant number of moderate Republicans don’t feel at home in the new maga GOP, don’t relate to Trump at all, and want their party back. Here’s what one former Trump supporter/voter says …
You know he isn’t the only one! Let us hope that they turn out en masse on November 5th.
