After Alexey Navalny’s death on February 16, a history instructor at a public Russian university decided to start all his lessons with a discussion about politics — despite the risk that one of his students might report him to the authorities. Speaking to news outlet Sirena, the instructor explained why he decided to talk about politics, what they discuss at the beginning of each lecture, and how these discussions were received among students. For Palestinian artist Ahmad Yaseen, spiny cactus plants make perfect canvas for his drawings. The artist has impressed many by his original way of expressing Palestinian suffering: using something that no one had contemplated.
Rather than painting scenes from the ongoing conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, Yaseen draw elements that provide glimmer of hope. His favorite set of drawings is of two newborns – one is resting in his mother’s arms while the other is breastfeeding.

Well, once again my ‘toon file is overflowing, and maybe it’s a good thing, for anything I would write today would likely come out as a rant, whether I intended it to or not! I’m always jealous of the political cartoonists … they have such a unique way of conveying a situation with few or no words, just their talented drawing. By the time we get around to the 2028 election, all the political cartoonists should surely be millionaires!!!
“Some of our staff have conveyed to UNRWA teams that they were forced to (make) confessions under torture and ill-treatment. These false confessions were in response to questioning about relations between UNRWA and Hamas and involvement in the 7 October attack against Israel,” UNRWA spokeswoman Juliette Touma said in a statement.
Israel has accused at least 12 staffers from the UN Relief and Works Agency of being involved in the October 7 terrorist attacks and has alleged that about 12 percent of UNRWA’s 13,000 staffers are members of Hamas or other Palestinian militant groups. Israeli officials have said some of the information about the 12 staffers involved in October 7 was obtained through cell phone data and other sources. UNRWA says it has fired 10 of the 12 accused staffers and that the other two are dead. CNN cannot confirm the allegations.
