Put a Little Love in Your Heart! 💘 | From Behind the Pen

Let’s pump up the LOVE volume today y’all. Energize LOVE! Show the world in your own special way that it can be a better place than the distraction of division and hate we see and hear too much of these days.

Be the good, loving change you want to see so that others will be inspired to be the best change they can be from your example. Give love straightforwardly, and generously. Give what you have without elaborate stipulations or a strict checklist.

From the 1988 Movie Scrooged, starring Bill Murray as Frank Cross. This song originally performed in 1969 by Jackie DeShannon is re-recorded by Al Green and Annie Lennox for the movie.

Here are the lyrics if you want to sing along.

Put a Little Love in Your Heart
Song by Jackie DeShannon

Think of your fellow manLend him a helping handPut a little love in your heartYou see it’s getting lateOh, please don’t hesitatePut a little love in your heart
And the world will be a better placeAnd the world will be a better placeFor you and meYou just wait and see
Another day goes byStill the children cryPut a little love in your heartIf you want the world to knowWe won’t let hatred growPut a little love in your heart
And the world (and the world) will be a better placeAll the world (and the world) will be a better placeFor you (for you) and me (and me)You just wait (just wait) and see, wait and see
Take a good look aroundAnd if you’re looking downPut a little love in your heartI hope when you decideKindness will be your guidePut a little love in your heart
And the world (and the world) will be a better placeAnd the world (and the world) will be a better placeFor you (for you) and me (and me)You just wait (just wait) and see
People, now put a little love in your heartEach and every dayPut a little love in your heartThere’s no other wayPut a little love in your heartIt’s up to youPut a little love in your heartC’mon and put a little love in your heartYou’ve got to put a little love in your heart

Colorado used 1-2 billion fewer plastic bags last year – Darcy Hitchcock

In 2023, 1.5 to 1.8 billion fewer bags were used in Colorado. That’s according to an estimate by Eco-Cycle, a nonprofit recycling center that focuses on zero waste.

The organization was one of the supporters of the Plastic Pollution Reduction Act, a Colorado law that was part of House Bill 21-1162. The law phases out the use of single-use plastic bags…

Conscious Reflections – Kaushal Kishore

Amidst silent contemplation, my conscience breathes,

Whispers of calm quicken when humanity pleads…

A child vending veggies, no schooling in sight,

Yet I simply look away, shunning his plight…

*

Half-clad, hungry souls at the red light glow,

Toys in their hands, but I roll up my window…

News of crime and harm, relief it’s not near,

Forgetting the compassion, gripped by fear…

*

Environmental echoes do whisper concern,

Yet I convince myself, indifference to discern…

One car, I argue, won’t alter nature’s stance,

In the dance of conscience, a fleeting trance…

*

In the pursuit of extra, fame, and wealth,

I overlook what I owe to others’ health…

Life’s race for more, what’s not truly mine,

But to give back that ‘extra’, I show no spine…

*

A one-way system can’t stand for long,

To reciprocate kindness, to right the wrong…

So I breathe in, and release the frantic race,

Nature’s gift, peace between two breaths’ grace…

P.S. In Sanskrit, “I” translates to “Aham,” which can be understood in English as “Ego.”

Lime Watermelon Sticks | snapshotsincursive

What’s Cooking in Gail’s Kitchen? Stir. Spread. Flip. Repeat: Lime Watermelon Sticks! Watermelon can be a finger food that commands attention at the next social gathering. Won’t that be impressive? Notice how the watermelon rind serves as a natural handle for picking it up. It certainly makes it easier for dipping into a creamy sauce. Now that I’ve caught your attention, add watermelon to your shopping list…
