Our stories are important. Open the door to thinking and be honest with your voice to impact people. “Do not silence one’s voice” is a powerful message that Sami Miranda delivers in a compelling and passionate advocacy to remember, uplift relatable conversations, and never forget one’s existence or history.
On today’s podcast, I was honored to speak to Sami Miranda, Curator, and Chair for the Board of directors of the American Poetry Museum in Washington, D.C. Sami’s personal thumbprint shapes many facets of life lessons, ancestral recollections, personal loss, and the everyday sounds and sights of people some try to ignore or erase from existence. Listen to how he helps to shape and empower his students to be the writers they want to be and how he gives them the tools to do that effectively while adding a dynamic form of expressionism to up-and-coming poets. Voices that come from the faces that we can identify with are part of his mission statement. In addition to that, Sami lets his fingers of creativity do the walking through a vintage manual typewriter to make his words come alive!
