Every now and then I like to do something a little different on the ‘good people’ post and show you just a few stories from people who have experienced or witnessed very small, yet huge, random acts of kindness from everyday people in everyday situations. Some are so simple, and yet had so much meaning to the recipient of that small kindness. Sometimes all it takes are a few kind words or a few minutes of our time to make an enormous difference in someone’s day…

📸📸📸
I’ve found a unique way
to see her smile,
whenever she frowns,
I simply position myself
in front of her
with my camera…

The Kane Gang was a 3-piece band from the north-east of England. Their first album caught the attention of the critics and the buying public, giving them moderate success. After just two hit singles from that debut album, their second album was more popular in the USA than it was in Britain. When the lead singer decided to go solo in 1991, the band split up.
But this track remains in my head, and I still love to listen to it.
(The video is rather poor quality, unfortunately. But the sound is fine.)

What’s Cooking in Gail’s Kitchen? Country Casual Cravings: Pom Pom Salad! You can’t miss the incredibly bright red edible seeds of a ripe pomegranate. It’s actually the only part of the fruit that can be eaten. The naturally sweet and slightly tart flavor of an aril almost tastes like a piece of candy. They look incredibly enticing when sprinkled on a leafy salad. Wouldn’t you agree?
Famine is stalking parts of Ethiopia. The epicentre is in the northern Tigray region.
Villagers who have not yet recovered from the ravages of the recent war in the region are now stricken by severe drought.

Reports of hundreds of children dying of starvation are trickling in from remote areas.

What’s interesting also is how their questions are changing. Most people are asking what can be done. The number of people asking if it’s a hoax has declined from 51 percent to 39.

When you take a good look at yourself in the mirror, what thoughts run through your mind? Do you wink at yourself and say what a gorgeous creature you are? Or are you overly critical of the way you look in the mirror at that very moment? Or maybe you are simply smiling at yourself, happy to be alive and ready to seize the day.
Years ago I loved the segment on Saturday Night Live, “Daily Affirmation with Stuart Smalley,” whose character was played by Al Franken. While the scene was funny, it was also a little sad. Somehow you felt sorry for old Stuart because it was apparent that he needed validation seeking positive compliments as a person who was experiencing low self-esteem. But his daily affirmation would always be positive, “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and doggone it people like me.”
We have to acknowledge that sometimes we just don’t feel our best and that is okay. We may go there, but it’s not healthy to stay there. When there is no one around to offer encouragement, sometimes you just have to encourage yourself by looking in the mirror, and affirming that you are blessed with the gift of life. You have that opportunity and a choice to be an asset and an inspiration or be a liability and morose.
Have a positively inspiring day! Happy affirmations! Enjoy!
