Some Much-Needed Perspective | Filosofa’s Word

One of the blogs I follow, though I admittedly don’t get time to read as often as I would like, is Times and Tides of a Beachwriter by Janet Gogerty.  Janet has published a number of novels and short fiction collections, live across the pond, and her posts are always fun and thoughtful.  Her post yesterday was no exception and reminded me to take a few steps back, a few deep breaths, and look around me.  We sometimes get so caught up in our own lives, our own corner of the world, that we forget to step back out of the forest so we can actually see the bigger picture.  I think you’ll appreciate Janet’s perspective here … I know I did.  Thank you, Janet, for this very timely post…

Kentucky: Judge Strikes Down Funding for Charter School Law | Diane Ravitch’s blog

A judge in Kentucky ruled that the law funding charter schools violated the state constitution, holding that the state cannot send public dollars to privately-operated schools. In effect, he ruled that charter schools are not public schools.

The Lexington Herald Leader reported:

Franklin Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd issued an order Monday finding that House Bill 9, which set up a funding mechanism for charter schools in the state, violated the Kentucky Constitution…
