Dangerous Liaisons: The True Proximity of Germany’s AfD To Neo-Nazis – DER SPIEGEL

According to DER SPIEGEL’s research, there was also a AfD politician present – and another speaker: Peter Steinborn, whose real name is Pierre Dornbrach. He used to be the national head of training for the Young Nationalists (JN), the youth wing of the neo-Nazi National Democratic Party (NPD). He also attended meetings of an organization modeled on the banned neo-Nazi group Heimattreue Deutsche Jugend (HDJ), which translates loosely as German Youth Faithful to the Homeland. He now works as an author and speaker for a think tank that feeds off people and ideas close to the NPD, which recently renamed itself Die Heimat (The Homeland). In other words, a classic neo-Nazi background. Source: Dangerous Liaisons: The True Proximity of Germany’s AfD To Neo-Nazis – DER SPIEGEL

They needed mental health care treatment. They were thrown in jail without charges instead | Mental health | The Guardian

In Mississippi, serious mental illness can land you in jail, even if you aren’t charged with a crime. The state is a stark outlier in jailing so many people for so long, but many officials say they don’t have another option

GOP “Big Lie Bill”

In Saner Thought

Voters Beware!

Anyone that follows politics will see that the GOP is hard pressing for more and more anti-voter bills wherever they are in the positions of power….and the US House is no exception.

Enter the “Big Lie Bill” the GOP will be proposing…..

Voting rights advocates across the United States on Monday responded with alarm to Republicans introducing what its backers called “the most conservative election integrity bill to be seriously considered” in the U.S. House of Representatives in decades.

Dubbed the “Big Lie Bill” by critics, the American Confidence in Elections (ACE) Act is spearheaded by Committee on House Administration Chair Bryan Steil (R-Wis.) and includes nearly 50 standalone bills from the chamber’s GOP members.

The Declaration for American Democracy (DFAD), a coalition of over 260 groups, said in a statement it was “deeply concerned” about the bill, warning that “the benign-sounding name of this legislation…

How a 1930s Architectural Masterpiece Harnesses the Sun to Keep Warm in the Winter & Cool in the Summer | Open Culture

Schweikher used these materials and others to construct what Hicks calls a “direct gain passive solar system,” whose openings and overhangs are “positioned so that it lets in winter sun, while blocking the summer sun,” which beats down at a slightly different angle. “Elevated, operable openings on the other side of the building allow warm air to rise, and draw in air from outside,” in addition to other features that maintain a temperate interior climate without the use of any electrical or even mechanical apparatus. Having designed this residence for himself and his wife in 1937 put him on the vanguard of what would later be recognized as the American interpretation of mid-century modernism, as well as what’s now called “solar home” building technology. Arguably, Schweikher’s techniques are even more valuable today: the climate may change, after all, but the sun’s seasonal angles stay the same. New world, new things

momentary news

Disposable, from the nose to the cell phone

From the soft head to futile ideas

And it lasts for relevancies

Everything at hand, and beyond

Count your intentions on your fingers

Realize what’s really important

No, don’t get away

Keep the balance well balanced

The new is good, welcome

Even with errors and discrepancies

Just let’s not underestimate

what is true

The salt of life….

The sums…

Religion and Love

A Voice from Iran

“220th Story”

Amir Ali was a Muslim student at the university and fell in love with a Christian girl name Susan.

Susan was studying literature and AmirAli accounting.

Susan was from the same city but AmirAli came from north part of the country. They loved each other but they both knew their families would never accept their marriage because of their religions.

Susan wished to open a bookstore one day. AmirAli said: “If you ever opened a bookstore in the future, name it “Silver Rain”, this way you will always remember me.

Susan laughed and nodded.

AmirAli and Susan talked to their families several times about their love but the answer was a definite “NO”.

After they graduated they said their goodbyes and Amir Ali went back to his town.

Thirty years passed and one day Amir Ali’s wife planned a vacation trip to the same city where he went…

Genetically engineered trees stoke climate hope — and environmental fears (Me: GE trees will fail the ecology test because humans think they are smarter than nature and can industrialize forests)

  • U.S. climate technology startup Living Carbon has been developing genetically engineered poplar trees that it says can absorb more carbon and better resist fungal decomposition than control plants – a potential tool in the climate crisis.
  • Some experts say the company lacks long-term field data and is rushing to commercialize its “supertrees,” potentially putting other species at risk.
  • Despite such concerns, Living Carbon is going ahead and planting mixed forests that include its GE trees, funded by carbon offsets.
