This year – as in many recent years – the backdrop to World Refugee Day is undeniably bleak. From maritime Southeast Asia to the European Union, and the US-Mexico border to Malawi, countries are retreating from their commitments to provide safe haven to people fleeing conflict and persecution. Windows-Janelas
Da janela eu vejo outras janelas sempre abertas.
A maioria segue silenciosa. Geralmente sempre silenciosas.

A Case Of Too Little, Too Late
Sixty-five law professors and faculty from George Washington University Law School, Barr’s alma mater, wrote in a June 2020 letter that he had “failed to fulfill his oath of office to ‘support and defend the Constitution of the United States”. They wrote that Barr’s actions as attorney general “have undermined the rule of law, breached constitutional norms, and damaged the integrity and traditional independence of his office and of the Department of Justice”. For the record, I agree. Frankly, I think Barr should be dis-barred.
To find your conscience a day late is better than never finding it, but imagine the good you could have done if you had found it a few days sooner? My grandmother used to have a saying for such that “It’s like closing the barn door after the cow already got out.”
William Barr was the U.S. Attorney General from February 19th, 2019 to December 23rd, 2020 – 673 days. During that time he was basically Donald Trump’s “yes-man”, his boot-licker, finding ways to enable Trump to do whatever he pleased, saying in essence that the president is above the law. Barr made sure Trump cronies Mike Flynn and Roger Stone got light sentences, bowed to Trump’s demand to investigate and try to imprison Hillary Clinton, and tried to discredit the Mueller Report’s finding that Trump and his campaign had numerous corrupt entanglements with Russia and…

Open Thread | Waiting for the Student Loan Forgiveness Decision By The Supreme Court | 3CHICSPOLITICO
Let’s get this straight.
President Biden NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER campaigned in 2020 on COMPLETE STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS.
He promised to do what he did…the $20,000 limit.
He promised to do what he could do under current laws.
And, in that, he has done a lot.
For students who were sold a bill of goods by fraudulent colleges, he has forgiven BILLIONS.
For the disabled, he has forgiven loans.
