Historia de La Esclavitud Negra En Puerto Rico by Luis M. Soler

This book, in my opinion, is worth keeping handy, and with a good library, and after having learned to read both Spanish and French, as well.  It was available freely online as a pdf document, via a university library system if I recall correctly, back when I first read it in 2015 or so, but I have not searched for it since then.

This extensive and not easy to read, but well worthwhile history of slavery in Puerto Rico, shows the importance not only of where we have been, but also what tools we have now and how to evaluate them in the light of past and present situations. The author comments that a Cooperative could have saved the small coffee producers of Puerto Rico, though not on whether that would have enabled the liberation…

Te amo

Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

Meus olhos agora, contemplam o eterno

A vida que pousa sobre a esperança

Do amor e sua bondade

Amor!

brilho …

Que entre versos

Leva o meu coração até a ti

Devagarinho …

Como sei que me leva contigo.

Marii Freire.

If We Cannot See It, Is It Real? | Filosofa’s Word

When we cannot breathe the air, when there is no potable water to drink, and when food shortages mean that not only we cannot afford food, but cannot find it, I think things like the price of fuel and immigration will be the least of our worries.  Our children and grandchildren will look back and ask why we didn’t take it more seriously when we had a real chance of reversing the damage, but instead left the problems to them.

Garry Rayno: History Is Not Always Comfortable | Diane Ravitch’s blog

Like many other states, New Hampshire passed a law forbidding the teaching of “divisive concepts” or anything that might make students “uncomfortable.” Such laws ban teaching truthfully and direct teachers to engage in self-censorship. Teachers who dare to violate these ridiculous laws risk being fired and losing their teaching license. Such laws are, in fact, shameful and an insult to freedom of inquiry, the freedom to teach and the freedom to learn. Petty tyrants suppress knowledge.
