Libraries Transport Us Around the Mediterranean: Review of Fortuné du Boisgobey’s Affaire Mystérieuse

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

Once again, thank you to a public audio library for this book, which transported me to a place I did  not like at first, but then  found was better than it started out to be.  And I am STILL Waiting on pins and needles, argh!, as I schedule this for Lupin Part 3 Lupin10 to start up again, with Omar Sy!!!

I am very glad to have given this book another chance, and listened to it all the way through. The last chapter changes everything, and makes this a heartwarming story of courage, a sense of honor, and willingness to sacrifice to protect innocent lives. Well done.

1.5% “#Bias : Listening to this again via litteratureaudio, free, but not nearly as good as Librivox, since it keeps losing my place and then I have to go find the chapter and start it all over again! Still an annoying story…

♫ Listen To The Music ♫

Filosofa's Word

Okay, okay … so I just played this one about 2 years ago, but it seemed to please everyone, including moi, so I’m playing it again tonight. I’m grumpy and need something to tap my toes to!

There are hundreds, if not thousands of songs in the world of ♫♪♫ that I love, and yet some nights I find myself at a loss for one that I haven’t already played since I began posting music last July(at the suggestion of one of my first blogging buddies, Mr. Militant Negro) last July. Exhaustion, coupled with the dark cloud over my head these days, I suppose, keeps me from immediately being able to think of another favourite of yore. So, when somebody mentions or requests a song that I do like, I jump on it! Tonight’s song came about just so. David, who wasn’t all that thrilled with Michael McDonald’s I…

बेमौसम / Unseasonal

Kaushal Kishore

पृथ्‍वी भी बाट जोहती है
अपने प्रेम की मेघ से,
वर्षा के रूप में,
एक नियत समय पर,
लेकिन बेमौसम प्यार
इसे भी पसंद नहीं है…

🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️

Even the earth waits
for its love from the cloud,
in the form of rain,
at a fixed time,
but it too doesn’t like
an unseasonal love…

Texas Man Pleads Guilty to Hate Crime and Arson for Setting Fire to Synagogue | OPA | Department of Justice

According to court documents and admissions made during the plea hearing, three days before the arson, on Oct. 28, 2021, Franklin Sechriest of San Marcos, Texas, drove to the synagogue’s parking lot outside its sanctuary. According to journals recovered from Sechriest, he went there to “scout out a target.” Sechriest admitted that he targeted the synagogue because of his hatred of Jews, and his journals were replete with virulent antisemitic statements and views. Sechriest also possessed several decals and stickers expressing antisemitic messages.

The night of the arson, Sechriest drove to the synagogue and was seen on surveillance video carrying a five-gallon container and toilet paper toward the synagogue’s sanctuary. Moments later, multiple surveillance videos captured the glow of a fire from the direction of the sanctuary. A security camera captured Sechriest jogging away from the direction of the fire and toward the open driver’s side door of a vehicle. A concerned citizen reported the fire, and the Austin Fire Department responded quickly to extinguish it. In Sechriest’s journal, in an entry dated Oct. 31, 2021, he wrote “I set a synagogue on fire.” In the days following the arson, Sechriest’s journal noted that he was actively monitoring media reports to track the progress of the investigation into the arson.

Virus on hands, surfaces contributes to household spread of COVID-19 – UPI.com (UK study)

“Our real-life study in London households provides the first empirical evidence to show that the presence of SARS-CoV-2 on people’s hands and surfaces contributes significantly to spread of COVID-19. Since we didn’t systematically sample household air, we cannot rule out airborne transmission occurring in parallel,” Lalvani said. The researchers studied COVID-19 transmission in 279 London households, recruiting 414 household contacts who lived with 279 people who were newly diagnosed with COVID-19 between Aug. 1, 2020, and March 31, 2021. Very few of the household contacts had been vaccinated yet or previously infected, which made them susceptible to infection. They ranged in age between 6 and 79 years.

Can any private festivity match an Indian wedding? The multiple days and all the joy seem endless compared to the low-key celebrations here in the United States. The novel I’m working on is definitely enhanced by the experience!

The video above was a charming footnote that a neighbor held for cousin, Giulia, who’d flown out from Spain.
