Reading and writing (click here for more about my books) allow me to walk in the shoes of other people, and for that I sure am grateful!

Thank heaven for writers like Ariel Henley, a young woman who describes what it is to be born (in this case with her twin sister) with Couron Syndrome, a condition wherein the skull doesn’t evolve as it does for most of us. Along her journey that’s included countless surgeries, she’s…

Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

What’s your Half Full and Half Empty?

On a mission

They say our mind always desires what we don’t have and once we receive it those things did not have the same importance.

So on the 11th day of 2023 let’s do this self-exercise to have 6 things that are half full and 5 that are half empty.

6 Half Full

1. Able to breathe

2. Families

3. Friends

4. Able to write every day

5. Able to read fellow WordPress blog

6. Some of you are there to correct my writing.

Half Empty

1. Not able to play regularly because of the weather.

2. Eating frozen food sometimes.

3. Not able to read everyone’s blog every day.

4. Not everyone can read or write in the world.

5. In today’s world of accelerated growth in the last 120 years still so many folks go to bed hungry.

What’s yours? List all or a few!

Take Time for These Things

From Behind the Pen

As I am preparing this post, it is 7:45 pm, and it is as dark as midnight outside. The moon is slowly rising, revealing the new phase of what was once a full stage just a few days ago. Suddenly, I hear what I think is someone making a noise outside my window, and I freeze. I continue to listen, only to learn that the noise is coming from one of the resident owls than hangs out in our trees. I took time to listen, and it connected me to the songs of night that lets me know life still continues its vibrancy, even when I don’t see it. Oh, what a treasure!

Take Time for 12 Things

Take time to Work –
It is the price of success.

Take time to Think –
It is the source of power.

Take time to Play –
It…

Repurpose old solar panels on low-income houses

Darcy Hitchcock

After 20 years, solar panels will lose 10-20 percent of their capacity to generate energy. (NREL says to plan on losing 0.5% per year, so they should still produce 90 percent of the energy after 20 years. Older models might be a little less.) By then, your house will likely need a new roof so the old panels will have to come down, at least temporarily. You’ll likely want to install newer, more efficient panels. Rather than tossing the old ones, this Colorado nonprofit is installing them on low-income housing.

Since joining the Coldharbour Institute, a research nonprofit based in Gunnison, Equitable Solar Solutions has installed pre-owned solar panels on five homes, Strmberg said. It has partnered with social service organizations and state agencies, including the Colorado Energy Office’s Weatherization Assistance Program, which helps low-income families make energy upgrades to their homes.

“Ultimately, it’s going to provide the…
