NIGHT & THE CONTINUING FALLING VERSES OF… (10)

[5th revision; 2019-2022]

days like these

April, a reminder

our big brothers

generally returned in sealed boxes

friends gathered

around the wet eyes

and long goodbyes…

so their Mothers could see

how they’ve rushed

putting them boxes together

the elevated paradise

the colour of rice porridge

in their eyes…

April

the country lay on a long bench

slept

dreamt

for a bunch of centuries

April

noon, there’s no sunlight

a fog

the citizens

like sheep in the meadows

in the streets

drifted…

April

the nation breaks in half

between two skies

the unplanned stroll

followed the tanks

to its destination

April

long ago

unhemmed, white nightgowns

a child came home

after dinner did their homework

“Stop plundering the sea floor”: Pressure mounts on deep sea mining company

Petchary's Blog

It’s not often that I comment on stock market news (I am sure this must be the first time). But this is newsworthy!

A company that has been at the forefront of efforts to get deep sea mining under way, The Metals Company (TMC), received a delisting notice from the NASDAQ stock exchange on December 5. It had traded below US$1 per share at its closing bid price for the previous 30 days, sparking the delisting. Moreover, it is losing important investments.

Greenpeace USA takes up the story in a December 7 press release:

Greenpeace Aotearoa campaigner James Hita, who was in México to peacefully confront the ‘Hidden Gem’ – the TMC-commissioned deep sea mining ship – as it returned from test mining in the Pacific Ocean to the port of Manzanillo, México, says the falling stock price and delisting notice is another clear signal to investors in…

Too soon to call end to COVID-19 emergency, GAVI chief says | Reuters

“We’re done with the virus but the virus is not done with us,” he added. At the same news briefing, Berkley said he expected demand for COVID-19 vaccines to remain strong in 2023. “We expect hundreds and hundreds of millions of doses to be requested. That’s what countries are saying they want,” he said.

Misinformation, vaccine concerns contribute to low COVID-19 vaccination rate among children: IU News (Me: no limit to disease stupid in US and many other nations)

“What our data show is that most parents in the U.S., even during these times of peak transmission, were not very concerned about the possibility of their household or their kids getting COVID,” said Calarco, associate professor of sociology in the IU Bloomington College of Arts and Sciences. “Only about 40 percent of all the parents in the survey said they were either very or extremely concerned about the risk of COVID.” Source: Misinformation, vaccine concerns contribute to low COVID-19 vaccination rate among children: IU News

Baba umama ma … Same in English

Stella, oh, Stella

… I needed something totally crazy and flipped, and my husband found it for me: The Trashmen and their “Surfin Bird”. View until the end, he is going completely bananas at the end. This was a hit in 1963 … 😉

Was mich dann doch gewundert hat – ich las das bei Wikipedia – dass es sie anscheinend 2013 noch gab, immer mal mit Pausen und dann Wiedervereinigungen. Sie sind sogar auf internationalen Tourneen gewesen.

… What surprised me was – I read that on Wikipedia – that they seemed to be still existing in 2013, breaking up and reuniting from time to time. They even went on international tours.

Argentiniens einzigartige Naturwunder
