The Stroll

Specimen Days

I don’t believe in Beatles
I wear the ball and chain
I can’t remember anything
And no one knows my name

I lie around in ardour
I’m prompted by the sun
I never finish anything
Until it has been done

Once I went to Italy
To visit with the Pope
Then I went to Amsterdam
To smoke the finest dope

I overspilled in Carolina
I did too much in Spain
I lost my way in Lapland
But I’m going back again

I’m always in a hurry
My privacy is set
I never seem to worry
Until I start to fret

But something in the water
Gets into my soul
I’d love to see you later
And we can do The Stroll
