Experts Are Seeing a Wave of QAnon-linked Crimes. The Attack on Pelosi’s Husband Might Be the Latest. – Mother Jones

The suspect’s exact motivation has yet to be established. But this week’s attack on Pelosi’s husband isn’t the first time an apparent QAnon follower has allegedly targeted the House Speaker with violence. On January 7, 2021, the FBI arrested Cleveland Grover Meredith at a DC hotel after he texted friends that he was, “Thinking about heading over to Pelosi’s… speech and putting a bullet in her noggin on live TV.” Meredith had been planning to be at the Capitol on January 6 but had car trouble and never made it. The FBI found hundreds of rounds of ammo, guns, and an assault rifle in his trailer. In 2018, Meredith put up a billboard emblazoned “#QANON” that advertised his car wash in Georgia. When the Atlanta Journal-Constitution asked him about it, he said he’d been drawn to QAnon by “common sense.” In court, his lawyer said that Meredith had “found a sense of purpose” in the QAnon world. He was sentenced to 28 months in prison.

QAnon emerged in 2017 as an online phenomenon, with followers taking cues from the anonymous “Q” who posted cryptic messages on 8chan. But it has been bleeding into real life in a violent fashion. In 2018, for instance, a man drove an armored truck to the Hoover Dam claiming to be on a mission from QAnon to force the Office of the Inspector General to release the “real” report on Hillary Clinton’s missing emails, referring to another strand of the far-right conspiracy theory. He engaged in a standoff with police before finally being arrested.

Do Democrats think climate change is a worthy cause to spend our children and their children’s money on?

Arthyr's Home on the web

Well, Dean, I’m not a Democrat but I’m going to ask you 3 very simple questions:

Have you ever heard that an ounce of prevention is cheaper than a pound of cure?

Have you realized it entered your head, at all, if the planet cannot sustain life there will be no descendants?

Is it better WE clean up our mess or leave it to THEM to clean up our mess?

I get it, you don’t understand what climate change is, or how it will affect the planet, or the future, so I’m going to explain it in layman’s terms for you, and even use some pictures.

This is what happened to places all around the world that locked down just during the early stages of the pandemic in a set of before/after pictures, taken at the exact same places:

The above and below shot are after and before, not before…

Community Led Change | Embassy of the Earth – A Maasai led initiative to regenerate landscape and livelihood in the White Mountain (Mt. Kilimanjaro) region.

WHITE MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY

A Maasai led initiative to regenerate landscape and livelihood
in the White Mountain (Mt. Kilimanjaro) region.
(Kenya, Tanzania, 2017 – present)

Amboseli, the beautiful iconic region right under Mt. Kilimanjaro, Kenya. And particularly the Maasai peoples who have been living in these savannah for generations. For the last two years not a drop of rain has fallen in this degraded landscape. The scorching drought puts an immense pressure on all of life. Cows are dying, Elephants, Giraffes and Lions are not making it. The Maasai are on the edge.

Maasai and Embassy of the Earth in 2019 convened a large group gathering in Amboseli to produce the most desirable future, strategies and relevant actions for this iconic habitat. Their future had, among other things, its focus on regeneration of landscape and livelihood; equilibrium among people, livestock and wildlife; protecting Maasai culture. It was the birth of the White Mountain movement! Oldonyo Oibor, White Mountain as the Maasai call Kilimanjaro.

A week ago, we got news that the situation in the villages in Amboseli was reaching a critical point. Their beloved cows now dying rapidly, hunger among the people. For these pastoralists, no cows, no money. They were ringing the alarm for help.

On the upside, all villages have food gardens, producing various vegetables (a White Mountain initiative). With our addition of maize flour and cooking oil they can make Ugali (sticky maize porridge) and feed their families. Kilimanjaro provides underground fresh water. But having no or a defect borehole-waterwell is a death sentence. And these problems also exist.

This is the current situation, broadly speaking. And what that means is this:

“To continue building on our long term future we must now first conquer the immediate threat to our existence.”

With the rain season ahead of us, now expected in November/December, the Maasai White Mountain Community have, in communication with us, indicated what is needed to get through this crisis.

We hope you can find it in your heart to support the amazing Maasai White Mountain Community, who have been and still are resilient and relentless in their pursuit to guard one of the most magic places on our planet Earth. And please share this message where you see fit.

Be well and know peace,

Frank Heckman,

Leo van der Vlist
