Comatose

yaskhan

once upon a night, I dreamed
a dream that I often thought
went beyond what I deemed
would come true, but came to naught.

an uneasy slumber gave
no reprieve, as I tossed, turned
to drowse I did badly crave
eyelids flickered open, yearned

for bliss of oblivion
attained in night’s dormancy
a quiescent soul shaken
by somnolent truancy.

♫ I Am Woman ♫ — Filosofa’s Word

I posted this song in October 2020, somewhat as a tribute to Helen Reddy who had died just a couple of days earlier.  I was just about to get started on my music post tonight when I read Sadje’s post and this song immediately came to mind and I was suddenly struck with a strong […]

Democracy Can’t Afford a Governor Kari Lake — Filosofa’s Word

Originally posted on On The Fence Voters: Kari Lake has a charismatic personality that reflects her years as an Arizona media personality. Boston University calls Daily Mail report on COVID-19 research ‘false, inaccurate’

“We want to address the false and inaccurate reporting about Boston University COVID-19 research, which appeared today in the Daily Mail,” said the BU statement. “First, this research is not gain-of-function research, meaning it did not amplify the Washington state SARS-CoV-2 virus strain or make it more dangerous. In fact, this research made the virus replicate less dangerous.”

The school said the Daily Mail’s reporting was sensationalized and took data from research on mice out of context.

“The animal model that was used was a particular type of mouse that is highly susceptible, and 80 to 100 percent of the infected mice succumb to disease from the original strain, the so-called Washington strain,” the school said. “Whereas Omicron causes a very mild disease in these animals.”
