MULHER Do ostracismo à luta pelos direitos nos dias atuais

Pensamentos.me/VEM comigo!

Quem ama quer perder a pessoa amada? Não. Quem ama não deseja perder os ganhos vindos da relação, coisas como: afeto diálogo, carinho. ” O amor tem as suas necessidades.”

♫ Paperback Writer ♫

Filosofa's Word

You might wonder why I’m playing this one today when I only played it just over a year ago.  Well … because … well … just because … we don’t all live in a yellow submarine, but if we did, we wouldn’t have to worry when geese flew overhead. (And if that makes a bit of sense to you, then welcome to my world and you are probably in deep trouble!)

Paperback Writer was largely written by Paul McCartney (though the song is credited to McCartney-Lennon), who based the lyrics on a challenge made to him by his Aunt Lil. McCartney recalled …

“The idea’s a bit different. Years ago, my Auntie Lil said to me, ‘Why do you always write songs about love all the time? Can’t you ever write about a horse or the summit conference or something interesting?’ So, I thought, ‘All right, Auntie Lil.’ And recently…

Happy Thanksgiving … Joyeux Action de Grâce … Redux 2022

Filosofa's Word

I first wrote this post in 2017 about Thanksgiving in Canada, and have reprised it every year since, with the exception of last year.  Why re-invent the wheel, right?  At any rate, I would like to wish all of my Canadian friends a very Happy Thanksgiving!  Save me some leftovers, okay?

🇨🇦 Happy Thanksgiving Canada!

I just realized, after a comment by friend Emily (Eschudel of Zombie Flamingoes) that today is Thanksgiving … in Canada!  Action de grâce!

Now, for those outside Canada, I thought I would look a bit into the history of Canada’s Thanksgiving.  We all know the lovely little story about the pilgrims and the natives and the first Thanksgiving in the U.S., which is basically a myth, but whatever.  So, I wondered if Canada has such a feel-good story too.  Well, turns out it’s confusing, but … let me tell you what I found, and then perhaps…

Pope decries modern-day treatment of migrants as he declares 2 new saints | PBS NewsHour

“The exclusion of migrants is scandalous,’’ Francis said, generating applause from the faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square for the canonizations of Don Giovanni Battista Scalabrini, an Italian bishop who founded an order to help Italian emigrants in 1887, and Artedime Zatti, an Italian who emigrated in 1897 to Argentina and dedicated his life as a lay-worker there to helping the sick.

“Indeed, the situation of migrants is criminal. They are left to die in front of us, making the Mediterranean the largest cemetery in the world. The situation of migrants is disgusting, sinful, criminal. Not to open the doors to those who are in need. No, we exclude them, we send them away to lager, where they are exploited and sold as slaves.”

He urged the faithful to consider the treatment of migrants, asking: ‘’Do we welcome them as brothers, or do we exploit them?”

There’s no better place

Idiomas RalFer

STOP MOTHER EARTH DESTRUCTION!!!

STOP WAR!!!

LOVE, PEACE AND RESPECT EVERYWHERE.

Down to Earth – Peter Gabriel

Did you think that your feet had been bound
By what gravity brings to the ground?
Did you feel you were tricked
By the future you picked?
Well, come on down

All these rules don’t apply
When you’re high in the sky
So come on down
Come on down

We’re coming down to the ground
There’s no better place to go
We’ve got snow up on the mountains
We’ve got rivers down below

We’re coming down to the ground
To hear the birds sing in the trees
And the land will be looked after
We send the seeds out in the breeze

Did you think you’d escaped from routine
By changing the script and the scene?
Despite all you made of it
You’re always afraid of the change

You’ve got a lot on…

The Week’s Best Cartoons 10/8

Filosofa's Word

As I struggled with motivation, or rather a lack thereof, this morning, I thought perhaps this would be a good time to visit TokyoSand over at Political Charge and see if she had done her usual posting of the week’s best political ‘toons.  Sure enough, I was not disappointed!  Naturally, the main topic of the week was Herschel Walker’s utterly ludicrous campaign for a seat in the U.S. Senate … I’m so sick of hearing his name that if I never hear it again it will be too soon.  But other topics vied for space as well, such as Hurricane Ian, women fighting for their rights in Iran, Vladimir Putin’s failing war against Ukraine, the Supreme Court and more.  Thank you, T.S., for bringing us the best of the best each week!

Be sure to check out the rest of the ‘toons!

गलत या सही / Wrong or Right

Kaushal Kishore

हर गलती मौका देती है
कुछ नया सीखने
और समझने का,
और हर सही लाता है
प्रशंसा और पहचान,
इसलिए बेहतर है
कुछ करते रहना
गलत या सही…

🕳️🕳️🕳️🕳️🕳️🕳️

Every mistake
gives an opportunity
to learn and understand
something new,
and every right brings
appreciation and recognition,
so it’s better to do something
wrong or right…
