A Question To Ponder

I want to throw something out for discussion, and I’d really like your honest opinions here.  The question is when do we draw a line, or do we draw a line, on comments that cross a line?  I do not want to censor any comments, but in the past year or so, I have done so, particularly if the comment included extreme vulgarity or was disrespectful to my readers or myself.  When this blog morphed from one of mostly book reviews to a socio-political blog in 2015, I accepted that there would be some with opinions different than mine.  I still accept that, and I welcome it, for only by listening to one another can we possibly hope to understand each other.  These are troubled times all over the globe and we need to learn to listen, to meet halfway, but I think in order for such communication to have…

Survey: Half of US adults plan to get flu shot | CIDRAP

During the 2022 National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) briefing yesterday, officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and NFID shared a new survey, which showed only 49% of US adults plan to get a flu vaccine during the 2022-2023 flu season, despite experts warning this year’s season may be severe. Rash of child deaths in Gambia linked to cough syrups made in India -WHO | Reuters

Tedros told reporters that the U.N. agency was conducting an investigation with Indian regulators and the company that made the syrups, New Delhi-based Maiden Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Maiden Pharma declined to comment, while calls and messages to the Drugs Controller General of India went unanswered. India’s health ministry did not respond to a request for comment.

The WHO issued a medical product alert on Wednesday asking regulators to remove Maiden Pharma goods from the market.
