Vietnamese literature in exile is more or less the result of us constantly looking back; “In search of lost time” like Proust, letting go of a rich culture “miệt vườn” is no way an easy task, it requires conviction and aptitude.

When Vietnamese literature overseas is treated as an extension of South Vietnamese Literature prior to 1975, whether it’s a reality or not, it’s still a precarious disposition.

Number one, the most obvious precarious disposition specifically is that it’s extremely difficult to accept what is new no matter how objective, we’re so privileged with all the means that doing nothing still leaves our compatriots in Vietnam drooling. Yet there are no pioneering writers amongst Vietnamese overseas, a soccer game with only defenders and lots of goalkeepers is a bizarre and despairing disposition.
