in bed in the rapids

IN BED IN THE RAPIDS

Via each tear the light fading
The long sigh through the rain
So what if the is water rising!
More for the heart, more pain?

Howling rain screeching gale
Even the kitchen corner, the rain whipping
Pale shivering dog
Slow and sure the cold seeping

Gosh as though bleeding, the tragic portrayal
On the wall confounding
Sadder still the shrivelled damp pages
The dying lines one after the other, a letter, a noun

Heart-wrenching croaking
Why bother with the displacing
Raise the bed, to the ceiling
The floor the lake, the spring

The late returning wind
Amidst the endless yearning and loss
Night residing on water
Endlessly adrift our life.
