Alienation is demoralising, the isolation crushing, especially under all the moist damp spit and pity. What can one do? Sit and cry, sure, I’ve done that. I’ve wept so often that I wonder if it is menopause or post traumatic stress syndrome from a war that’s almost half a century buried in oblivion. I ask myself daily why I do anything at all. Why?

I am from a lost generation ignorant of my roots and culture. The garbage generation. I am accused of not being able to read and write my native language, I am accused of not being able to spell in my adopted country. I am accused of living in the past. I am accused of drowning in my own pity, let alone more pity from any privileged outsider. How do I identify myself? If I can not, what will happen to my children, the making of…

Đơn giản là vậy nhé, thơ hay thì ngôn ngữ nào cũng sẽ hay, it would surpass time and your vernacular, nó có thể vượt qua cả ngôn ngữ và thời gian.

Tháng vừa rồi tôi đọc lại tập thơ Radio mùa hè của anh Phan Nhiên Hạo, đã hai năm rồi đọc lại mà vẫn còn bị ám ảnh như xưa, những ngày tôi đã bị mất quê hương. Tôi dịch xong, tôi ngồi, tôi khóc, khóc cho ai? Cho tôi? Cho ba má tôi? Hay cho con tôi? Bao giờ sẽ quên?

Câu hỏi cần phải hỏi là tại sao phải quên? Nó đã là ta rồi mà.

Tôi mệt mỏi lắm với những câu hỏi nhạt nhẽo khô khan.

Tôi muốn chia sẻ lại với bạn một bài thơ mà tôi đã vô tình dịch, bài thơ rất đẹp…

Tôi là một người may mắn vì đã hiểu và cảm nhận được cả hai khía cạnh, một là chưa từng và hai là người đã từng nuôi chó. Mất Shani đã ảnh hưởng tôi một cách sâu sắc vượt luôn cả sự tưởng tượng của tôi, nhưng tôi sẽ hiểu là khi bạn chưa từng có một chú chó bên cạnh, bạn sẽ không bao giờ hiểu được ý tưởng tình bạn đẹp này của tôi.

Shani, loại chú chó chăn cừu của Đức, luôn luôn yêu tôi vô điều kiện cùng luôn luôn phản hồi liên tục một cách tích cực, nàng là người đã dạy tôi cách đá bóng – ồ, tốt đó, thử lại nào, bạn thất bại không phải là một vấn đề, tôi vẫn yêu bạn, chúng ta có thể thử lại một lần nữa, hôm nay hay ngày mai cũng được.
