É doce morrer no mar

Nas ondas verdes do mar [ bis]

A noite que ele não veio foi

Foi de tristeza pra mim

Saveiro voltou sozinho

Triste noite pra mim

É doce morrer no mar

Nas ondas verdes do mar [ bis]

Saveiro partiu

de noite foi

Madrugada não voltou

O marinheiro bonito

sereia do mar levou

É doce morrer no mar

Nas ondas verdes do mar [ bis]

Nas ondas verdes do mar meu bem

Ele se foi afogar

Fez sua cama de novo no colo de Iemanjar.

Teen Activists Plot to Unseat Greg Abbott, Other Pro-Gun Lawmakers

Julianna lays the blame for the shooting on “every politician who has accepted money from the NRA.”

“I blame every politician who has passed the loose and dangerous gun laws that are in place here in Texas,” she said, adding that their “recklessness, their performative constitutionalism has led to violence and death.”

She singled out Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, accusing him of regularly stoking “the flames of extremism and white supremacy” and noting that the state had seen a number of major mass shootings on his watch, including the 2019 shooting at a Walmart in El Paso.

“Two of which primarily affected Latin Americans,” she said. “The same people he calls invaders and criminals.”

Revista: Las Puertas del Mal

Inspiring Critical Thinking and Community via Books, Lessons, and Story

Las Puertas del MalLas Puertas del Mal by Núria Masot
(English review here…)

Students walkout for gun control laws after Texas shooting – Los Angeles Times

Throughout the Los Angeles region and across the country, students and teachers walked out of their classrooms as part of an organized protest after the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, where an 18-year-old gunman opened fire inside a classroom at Robb Elementary School. Students Demand Action, an initiative that is part of the Everytown for Gun Safety group, organized more than 200 walkouts Thursday across the country.

The student group was launched after the 2018 shooting in Parkland, Fla., and advocates for gun-safety policies. On social media, videos and images captured students participating in such states as Rhode Island, New York, Missouri and California.

In Los Angeles, students staged walkouts from Los Feliz to Woodland Hills.

Ashley, who founded the Students Demand Action club at her school, said she believed it was important to walkout today to honor the students killed in Texas and the people whose lives were cut short by gun violence, including the people killed May 14 at a grocery store in Buffalo, N.Y.

On Thursday, Ashley, with the support of her school administration, gave a speech during which she spoke about the shooting in Texas and named the victims. The school had a moment of silence and told the school the walkout would be held at 11:30 a.m.

Herschel Walker Must Be Trolling Us

Since announcing his candidacy, Walker has claimed to know of a cure for Covid-19lied repeatedly about having a college degree, skipped debatewith his former Republican primary rivals, avoided questions about his actual residency in Georgia and ugly episodes with domestic violence in his past. None of that stopped him from demolishing his competition in the GOP primary this past Tuesday, setting up a race against incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock, a Democrat who also happens to be the lineal occupant of the pulpit once stood in by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Price for Freedom

Grounds For Hope

MAKE a CHANGE – Please support Sandy Hook Promise or Children’s Defense Fund

We are divided by walls
Invisible, but gun enforced
Ignorant, stubborn stalls.
We talk and talk - it’s déjà vu
Rephrase, rehearse
Wipe off gunpowder residue.
Rat-a-tat, rat-a-tat, life in one shot,
A high price is paid for freedom
Rat-a-tat, rat-a-tat,
Souls dissipate without a reason.
Sound of discharging cartridge
falls one by one on the ground
A single pull of the trigger,
Silenced a once happy playground.
