Freedom (and still French) Fridays for Truth and Reconciliation via Empathy
Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better
It’s nearly the end of Passover, so share your stories of Freedom, please. I tried to incorporate some untold stories into the tours I developed in DC.
First, some suggestions for every Community College or Continuing Education campus below, that I consider part of the processes of repairing some part of the damage done by slavery:
1.) a small library or study area, for students with no quiet home,
2.) workshops given by recent local graduates, to mentor current students,
3.) an on-site nurse paid for by medicaid, and
4.) access to public transportation, such as shuttles between campuses,
Now, the tours.
Since I’ve been a bit lacking on my study of Language this week, I must fall back on my study of tours in DC, from 2011!

Meadows Was Registered To Vote In Three States – Scottie’s Playtime
The right / Republicans are sure there is voter fraud and that is because they are the ones doing it. They accuse the Democrats of course because every accusation is a confession for the Republicans.
The Washington Post reports:
Voter-list maintenance is one of the dividing lines in American politics. Republicans argue that if voter-registration records are not regularly purged and updated, election fraud can take place. Democrats push back that too many voter-list purges are conducted haphazardly, removing eligible voters who don’t learn they are no longer listed until they show up to vote.
Now it turns out that until last week, Meadows was simultaneously registered to vote in three different states — North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina — according to state records obtained by The Fact Checker. The overlap lasted about three weeks, and it might have continued if revelations about Meadows’s voting record had not attracted scrutiny in North Carolina. Meadows is still registered in Virginia and South Carolina.

Indian lawmaker arrested after tweet criticising Narendra Modi | India | The Guardian (Me: Democracy/free speech takes another hit in India… Modi’s fragile autocratic ego)
A state lawmaker in India was arrested for criticising the prime minister, Narendra Modi, in a tweet, officials have said, raising concerns over freedom of speech in the world’s largest democracy.
Jignesh Mevani, a prominent campaigner for India’s marginalised low-caste Dalit community, accused the Hindu nationalist leader of idolising Nathuram Godse, the assassin of India’s independence icon Mahatma Gandhi.
Some fringes of the Indian rightwing revere Godse as a hero for killing the man they blame for the partition of India and Pakistan – comments that Modi has criticised in the past.
But Mevani tweeted this week that Modi “worships and considers Godse as God”, accusing the prime minister of fomenting religious division.
He also demanded that Modi apologise for communal violence in Gujarat, where Mevani is a member of the state legislature.

They Are Not Just “Your” Kids!
A recent column by Frank Bruni brought to my attention something that … for whatever reason … had not occurred to me in this whole education “cultural war” anti-CRT, anti-LGBTQ school curriculum battle. DAMMIT, Ron DeSantis and others who would deprive our children of an education … WE THE PEOPLE … all of us, even those of us who no longer or never did have school-age children, PAY for the schools AND we rely on the schools to turn out well-educated, well-rounded young people who can make this country — the world — a better place for us all! DeSantis and the bigoted parents who do not want their children to learn that the U.S. is and has always been a racist nation, DeSantis and the homophobic parents who are scared shitless that little Johnny or Susie may eventually realize that … hey, it’s okay to be different … …

Happy Earth Day 2022!!!
Today is Earth Day … the 52nd anniversary of Earth Day, to be exact. Typically, Earth Day is assigned a different theme or area of focus each year; last year’s theme was “Restore Our Earth” and this year’s theme is, appropriately, “Invest in Our Planet”. This short clip is from last year, but I loved it and so am sharing it again this year.
I am always surprised by people who say, “Yeah, so???” Or those who say “What the heck is Earth Day?” Or worse yet, those who say it isn’t their problem. Each generation has contributed to the damage that is threatening our very survival, each generation multiplying that damage as technological ‘advances’ come along, many of which only exacerbate the problems. Modern day jets, oil & gas pipelines, bovine-sized SUVs, food waste, plastic wrappers & containers … all these and more are…
