This week’s Torah portion, Parashat Tzav, is the 25th sedra, so almost halfway through the annual cycle, and the 2nd Parashah in the book of Vayikra/Leviticus.
This week, Moshe/Moses is told to Command/Order the people concerning sacrifices, and to consecrate Aaron and his sons as a hierarchical and hereditary priesthood. But what if we all took upon ourselves the obligation of building an equally responsible society, rather than one based on hierarchy? What could equity of responsibility and citizenry look like?
