War has completely changed the lives of millions of Ukrainians. While some fight for their country’s freedom, millions have been forced to flee abroad as refugees. Others remain in their homes, struggling to survive in wartime conditions and waiting to reunite with their loved ones. Iryna Egorchenko is a 43-year-old community leader in Kyiv, whose son is fighting in besieged Mariupol. When she spoke to Meduza, Iryna hadn’t heard from her son in almost a week. But she refuses to give up hope or give in to fear. In her own words, Iryna explains why she believes in bright future for Ukraine — and for Russia, too.

Anticancer medicine can eliminate HIV from the body – Mágica Mistura を

Keytruda (pembrolizumab) has been used since 2014 to treat melanoma, lymphoma and lung cancer, among other types. It removes a “disguise” that cancer cells use to circumvent the immune system.

Now, American scientists have found that the drug is also of another use: it manages to expel the AIDS virus from T cells, where it normally lodges (and can be hidden, even when the patient no longer has detectable HIV).

The discovery (1) it happened by chance, during the treatment of patients who have cancer and HIV. If the effect is confirmed, it can lead to a new anti-AIDS cocktail, capable of completely expelling the virus from the body.

Hundred Souls with One Scythe

Grounds For Hope

It has been a month of violence
Unfair, unkind, unjust
The world is watching like eighty years ago
Lives dissipate into dust.
It has been a month of terror.
New day, but old atrocities
The Russians have turned to siege warfare,
Bashing cities from ground and air.
Death rushed from the sky through the windows.
No more selections - hundred souls with once scythe
Somewhere under rubbles breathing corpse,
A ghost, still alive.
Children come under fire from a besieged smoking town
Little souls tormented by war.
Standing numb, standing still as though no one’s around
But a cry of violin from pain within the core.
Empty streets full of skirting debris,
From gun shells and missiles
Distant screams from the ground by the Black Sea
Gone in a swirling fog of war,
Leaving behind a lonesome whistle.
