É impressionante como muitas mulheres vivem aprisionadas em relacionamentos doentios. A sensação vivida por muitas é a de impotência. Como descreve a própria Maria da Penha quando ainda estava casada com o seu agressor. Segundo palavras dela mesma ” Não podia fazer nada para conter as agressões do marido às filhas ou a si mesma”. Às vezes, a mulher se sente sozinha e desesperada! Essa que é a realidade. Eu vejo isso nas palavras de muitas mulheres hoje. É comum, que parte destas “entregue a situação a Deus” sim – apesar da lei, parte dessas vítimas não conhecem os seus direitos. Quer dizer, essas mulheres passam por todos os tipos de violência, e pasmem – para sobreviver, elas…

Opinion | Pushing Back Against the C.D.C.’s Easing of Covid Rules – The New York Times

As the parent of a 3-year-old, I am outraged and saddened that the C.D.C. has decided to place my child and all other children under the age of 5 at increased risk by dropping most mask requirements. My child has spent two-thirds of their young life unable to go many places, because the places were closed or because they would be around large groups of other children.

My child has not been to a children’s museum, a friend’s birthday party or a McDonald’s play area. And while we parents wait to be able to vaccinate our kids, the C.D.C. has decided to make it so I can’t take my kid to the grocery store either.

Toyota to suspend production in Russia and vehicle imports | The Japan Times

Toyota Motor Corp. will halt production at its Russian factory from Friday, while vehicle imports into the country have also stopped indefinitely due to supply chain disruptions, the automaker said.

Toyota joins other Japanese automakers that have taken or flagged similar moves, also citing difficulty in procuring parts and other logistical hurdles.

“Around 7pm, these men started to shout and yell against groups of African and Middle Eastern refugees who were outside the train station,” two Polish journalists from the press agency OKO, who first reported the incident, told the Guardian. “They yelled at them: ‘Go back to the train station! Go back to your country.’”

Police intervened and riot officers were deployed after groups of men arrived chanting “Przemyśl always Polish”.

“I was with my friends, buying something to eat outside,” said Sara, 22, from Egypt, a student in Ukraine. “These men came and started to harass a group of men from Nigeria. They wouldn’t let an African boy go inside a place to eat some food. Then they came towards us and yelled: ‘Go back to your country.’”

Following the incident, police in Poland warned that groups linked to the far right are already spreading false information about alleged crimes committed by people from Africa and the Middle East fleeing war in Ukraine.

Przemyśl police said on Twitter: “In the media, there is false information that serious crimes have occurred in Przemyśl and the border: burglaries, assaults and rape. It’s not true. The police did not record an increased number of crimes in connection with the situation at the border. #StopFakeNews.”

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

This post is the start (for a Reader who’d expressed interest in my writing process: the Featured Image is my high level outline, which I sketched initially, and the image below is my detailed outline for this section) of the rough draft of  Chapter 8 of my non-fiction WiP, Do Better, fka Baby Floors.   This part of chapter 8 will begin the later years of mapping out a path to get there for Phase II, with a potential new adulthood rite of passage.

Sorry, Dear Readers, I forgot that this chapter has 5 sections per early and late, rather than the usual 4.

The overall objective remains that of putting a floor on poverty so that each and every baby born can have a safe childhood.

Outlines for chapter 8 will attempt to match with each section, at the bottom of each post.
