Saturday Surprise — Avian Humour

Filosofa's Word

I must admit that I nearly forgot that today is Saturday.  There’s a reason for this … no, I’m not losing all my marbles, only a few of them.  See, daughter Chris was off from work yesterday (Friday), which made it feel like Saturday all day, for she’s never home on Friday.  At any rate, I remembered in time and thought since a few of my posts this week were pretty dark, we really do need some humour to lead into the weekend.  This is a post from a couple of years ago — July 2020 — when I had also forgotten it was Saturday and for the same reason, that Chris had been off work, only that time it was for the July 4th holiday and this time it was for the ice & snow storm we had on Thursday!  Anyway, enjoy the birdies and have a terrific weekend!

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

This week’s Torah portion is Parashat Terumah / פָּרָשַׁתתְּרוּמָה

This is the 19th annual cycle parashah, and the 7th in the book of Sh’mot/Exodus:

Torah Portion:Exodus 25:1-27:19

A place to live.

So, if the Creator of the Universe needs a place to live, how much more, the rest of us, who need to eat, sleep, and breathe fresh air?

Parashat Mishpatim was last week…

Action Prompts:

Share your thoughts on how to build buy-in to keep (sorry, get & keep) all of us housed safely, please. Writing, by the way, is my personal contribution to Project Do Better.

What would…

Breathing and Covid

CRAIN'S COMMENTS

One of the issues with Covid since the start of the disease has been breathing difficulty.

It turns out that the explanation for breathing difficulty may lie in the say mechanism that explains brain injury from Covid. The brain issue was discussed in a prior post back around the holidays. Lung damage is discussed in a new research report from the German Center for Infection Research.(1) This research team is led by Professor Christine Falk.

The disease triggers an immune system response — in some cases and excessive response. One of the things that this immune response can do is attack the endothelial cells which line blood vessels. The purpose of these cells, collectively called the endothelium, is to maintain the integrity of the blood vessels and prevent leaks of blood into tissue in the body where it doesn’t belong.

  • In the brain, leaks can kill tissue and break connections…
