Lemon Garlic Hummus

snapshotsincursive

What’s Cooking in Gail’s Kitchen? Country Casual Cravings: Lemon Garlic Hummus! If you go crazy over hummus and veggies, here’s a variation that adds flavorful notes of citrus. The use of pink-colored Himalayan salt equals an added bonus of less sodium than table salt plus trace elements of healthy minerals like iron, which translates to protein that maintains good body chemistry. But that’s the boring news. The best part, in my opinion, is the guilt-free buttery taste of hummus. Discover how one creamy spoonful practically melts in your mouth. Then scoop away with crisp and zesty radish slices. It’s finger food on steroids.

LEMON GARLIC HUMMUS

Ingredients:

15-ounce can chickpeas, rinsed and drained, hulls removed

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon pink Himalayan salt

2 teaspoons sesame oil

Paprika, toasted sesame seeds, for garnish

Radish slices, for serving

Attorney General James Takes Action to Force Donald J. Trump, Donald Trump, Jr., and Ivanka Trump to Comply with Ongoing Investigation Into Trump Organization’s Financial Dealings | New York State Attorney General

The OAG has determined that the Statements of Financial Condition described Mr. Trump’s (or the Trustees of the Revocable Trust’s) valuation process in broad terms and in ways which were often inaccurate or misleading when compared with the supporting data and documentation that the Trump Organization submitted to its accounting firm. Among other things, the statements:

  • Misstated objective facts, like the size of Mr. Trump’s Trump Tower penthouse;
  • Miscategorized assets outside Mr. Trump’s or the Trump Organization’s control as “cash,” thereby overstating his liquidity;
  • Misstated the process by which Mr. Trump or his associates reached valuations, including deviations from generally accepted accounting principles in ways that the statements did not disclose;
  • Failed to use fundamental techniques of valuation, like discounting future revenues and expenses to their present value, or choosing as “comparables” only similar properties in order to impute valuations from public sales data;
  • Misstated the purported involvement of “outside professionals” in reaching the valuations; and
  • Failed to advise that certain valuation amounts were inflated by an undisclosed amount for brand value.

All of the examples described below appeared on official Statements of Financial Condition for Donald J. Trump for a number of years and were used to obtain loans or otherwise state the net worth of Mr. Trump and the Trump Organization.

Wondering Wednesdays, Do Better, Chapter 8, section I: Introducing a map for the early years of Phase II

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

This post is the start of the rough draft of  Chapter 8 of my non-fiction WiP, Do Better fka Baby Floors.   This chapter will begin the early years of mapping out a path to get there for Phase II, with a potential new adulthood rite of passage.

The overall objective remains that of putting a floor on poverty so that each and every baby born can have a safe childhood.

Outlines for chapter 8 will attempt to match with each section, at the bottom of each post.

(Side note:  I’m still trying to figure out how to find reference on the Tsalagi exchange with the Gentleman of South Carolina, colonial era.  Cherokee leader was Onacasta (or Ocanasta), maybe of the Middle Towns,  around or just before the Ango-Cherokee war sparked by Virginia colonists, or perhaps the Tuscarora War, but the Cherokee sent 4 kids to a white College, and…

Georgia Dog-Fighting Trainer and Breeder Sentenced to Five Years in Prison   | OPA | Department of Justice

“Vernon Vegas is being held accountable for his violent, illegal and inhumane actions,” said Assistant Attorney General Todd Kim of the Justice Department’s Environment and Natural Resources Division. “This case illustrates that dog-fighting is intimately connected with the underworld of drugs and organized crime, and that the Department of Justice will investigate and prosecute it to the fullest extent of the law.”

“Vernon Vegas has received the maximum prison sentence for training others in the brutal and bloody business of dog-fighting, a world that fosters a multitude of other dangerous criminal activity,” said U.S. Attorney Peter D. Leary for the Middle District of Georgia. “Our office, working alongside local, state and federal law enforcement, will hold individuals and groups that participate in illegal dog-fighting accountable for their crimes.”

Apologies in advance … I am in rant mode today!

Of all the men (and a few women, but mostly all men) who occupy seats in Congress and call themselves “Republicans”, there is not one who possesses a conscience.  Not a single one.  Oh sure, a few actually stood up to the former guy last year, but even they have now reverted to form and are toeing the party line … whatever the party line is.  And so, I have this to say to every Republican who has an office in the Capitol …

WAKE THE HELL UP!!!  WE THE PEOPLE PUT YOU IN OFFICE AND WE CAN DAMNED WELL TAKE YOU OUT!  IF YOU TAKE AWAY OUR RIGHT TO VOTE, WE WILL FIND A WAY TO TAKE AWAY YOUR CUSHY JOB, YOUR OFFICE, YOUR FREE TRANSPORTATION, AND HOPE YOU END UP WORKING IN A FACTORY FOR THAT MINIMUM…
