With a surge in Covid-19 cases across the nation, state officials are starting to reimpose emergency orders.
Officials from Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, Kansas and California have all announced executive measures since the beginning of January.
Instead of lockdowns and business closures, the orders are designed to free up resources so state and local agencies can prepare for the onslaught of cases.
“What’s your message for voters of color who are concerned that without the John L. Lewis Voting Rights Act they’re not going to be able to vote in the midterm?” he asked.
McConnell replied, “Well, the concern is misplaced, because if you look at the statistics, African American voters are voting in just as high a percentage as Americans.”
In the recently reshuffled Cabinet, a whole new Ministry was created. Environment and Climate Change was kicked to the kerb (as I mentioned earlier) and a new Ministry of Legal and Constitutional Affairs was set up, to be headed by former Attorney General Marlene Malahoo Forte. The new Attorney General, Dr. Derrick McKoy, is a former Contractor General, and he is not a politician. He will not sit in Parliament.

Minister Malahoo Forte made it clear in Parliament this week that she wants to ensure things are done properly. Laws should not be rushed through at the last minute. There must be timelines. Quite a few laws are still stuck in the nineteenth century.
