A Hidden Figure in North American Archaeology – SAPIENS
January 22, 2022, marks the 100th anniversary of the death of George McJunkin, an African American cowboy in northeastern New Mexico during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Why is the anniversary of McJunkin’s passing worth celebrating? Because he discovered what became known as the Folsom site, an ancient bison bone bed where scientists came to accept the idea that Native Americans lived in North America during the last ice age—thousands of years earlier than most scientists then believed. McJunkin is also important to many Black people today because he is one of many historical figures finally gaining credit for their myriad contributions to science, politics, and other disciplines over the centuries. In 2019, George McJunkin was inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.

Where do we Stand
Are we on the side of avarice and greed or do we advocate for peace and the equitable distribution of the world’s resources? Do we value Mother Earth, the life of all the inhabitants of this world including sentient beings? Do we delude ourselves into believing that the only thing that matters is the survival of self? Where do we stand?

The flowers brome…

I sat next to a flower once, bold and dared, growing through the ground, making its way into the ether air.
It perplexed me, in mid sentence, I stared, as a whisper came forth from the flower’s brome, hard to grasp in its block and form.
As the words mingled within me, and I stared at the petals mildly, I realized the words had taken on a life of their own, resonating within my heart’s home.
What, you ask, did the flower say to me on that day?
“Grow boldly, love fiercely, and, when in doubt, sit next to me here, and watch, listen, and learn; then, my friend, you will realize what love is all about.”

Drifting
Reprise

I’ve lost my soul
And my body doesn’t belong to me anymore
I feel like a small boat
Drifting away from the shore
Will you join me?
Shall we just be?
Together, we are stronger
And we see brighter
A whole new world
Is awaiting to be discovered
But feelings cannot be put into words
They are also drifting, undercovered.

The planet’s fever – Magic Mixture を
In addition to the residents of that small nation, it is estimated that more than 250 million people will have to leave their home in the coming decades because of the global warming It will make some places more arid, others more humid and some will be submerged for good.
The citizens of Tuvalu and other coastal regions represent the most visible facet of the risk, but they are nowhere near the only ones suffering from the consequences of climate change Changes that are the result of the current model of production and consumption and our lifestyle, which drain almost twice the resources that the Earth is able to supply a year.
From Brazilians to Siberians, to Americans and Australians, all, regardless of economic class, are already with Cheers in danger due to damage to environment and nature’s reactions to that process.
