Snarky Snippets Returns!!! | Filosofa’s Word

It seems that every time I log onto any of the news media sites, I am driven to gnashing my teeth and muttering expletives under my breath … or sometimes on top of my breath, which explains how my cat learned the “f-word”!  There is just so damn much to be angry about these days,…

Considering Oxymora

bluejayblog

I enjoy the fact that the word oxymoron is, itself, an oxymoron. Its two Greek root words are the adjectives oskús {sharp} and morōs {dull}. We use oxymorons to cast doubt as to the rationality of claims or as a clever literary device. Whenever we notice a group of words that appear to be contradictory, it’s important not to mistake antonym pairs, paradoxes, and contradictions in terms for oxymorons.

To set the record straight, an antonym pair is a grammatical device that uses two words with opposite meanings such as “dark to light”–not an oxymoron. 10 Amazing Stories of Lord Vishnu

Anita's Perspectives on Life

you must read #9

Vayu looked strangely at Indra, ‘What happened? I remember lifting Mount Mandara, and then nothing…’

Bali was meanwhile looking after his colleagues and making sure they were ok. He looked at Vishnu and thanked Vishnu.

Indra explained to Vayu and the other Gods about how they were crushed under the Mountain. All the Devas and the Asuras fell at Lord Vishnu’s feet and thanked him. Vishnu smiled and he carried Mount Mandara on Garuda’s back and placed it near the ocean and turned to Garuda, ‘Friend, it is best you do not come to this place again. Vasuki the king of serpents would never come as long as you are here.’ Garuda nodded. Birds and snakes were natural enemies… Garuda flew off. Lord Vishnu also vanished.

Both the Devas and the Asuras feeling happy now, went near the ocean to place Mount Mandara inside the ocean.

Do Better: 3rd draft comment hanger, Chapters 5, and 6

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

For those interested in helping to begin this project, now called Project Do Better, I have finally finished the third draft of DoBetter, formerly known as BabyAcres, or Baby Floors, and am out of spoons.  So, I am requesting volunteers to help with the work of providing feedback for this book, and preparing to send it out into the world, as yours, Intrepid Volunteers.

I’m still posting the rough draft sections on Wednesdays as a reminder and rallying point, until someone offers to build a site or portal for the set of communities to be built around this project.  I offer Do Better as a starting point for guidelines over the next 70 years, with the understanding that the project must be shaped by those who come after me.  Thus Do Better, while written by my hand, must be released into…
