COP26: 190 nations and organisations pledge to quit coal – BBC News (Me: pledges are not the same as quitting!)
Coal is the single biggest contributor to climate change.
The UK said 190 nations and organisations had vowed to quit coal.
But some of the world’s biggest coal-dependent countries, including Australia, India, China and the US, did not sign up to the pledge.

HPV vaccination lowers cervical cancer risk up to 87%, British study finds – UPI.com
Becoming vaccinated against the human papillomavirus, or HPV, reduces a woman’s risk for cervical cancer up to 87%, a study published Wednesday by the Lancet found.
By June 2019, about 450 fewer cases of cervical cancer and 17,200 fewer cases of cervical carcinomas, or pre-cancers, than expected occurred among women vaccinated between 12 and 13 years old in England from 2008 on, the data showed.
Cervical cancer rates were 62% lower in women vaccinated between ages 14 and 16 and 34% lower in those inoculated at ages 16 to 18 when the vaccine first was available, the researchers said.

Ciúmes
Jealous

An open road, autumn morning, a hiking trail under a setting moon. Thirty miles of hiking trails thread these 16,212 acres. Some, like the Backbone trail, traverse farmland reverted to forest and meadow, popular for horseback riding.

Your açaí smoothie may be destroying floodplain forests in the Amazon (Me: Industrialized agriculture supports deforestation and planet death!)
- The increase in açaí palm cultivation to supply global demand for the “superfood” has led to the loss of biodiversity and changes in vegetation in the floodplain forests along the Amazon River in Brazil’s Pará state.
- Brazil’s açaí exports have risen by more than 14,000% over the past decade, with the state of Pará accounting for 95% of national production.
- In areas where there should be roughly 70 plant species per hectare, there are now virtual monocultures of açaí, with as many as 1,000 palm tree clusters per hectare

Human Supremacy
This morning I had one of those “ah ha” moments, when something changes my perspective in a way that explains things that seemed inexplicable. I don’t remember hearing the term ‘human supremacy‘ before. But as soon as I read that I understood what it is. White supremacy been part of our national conversation for years. Human supremacy extends the idea of white supremacy to the domination of everything non-human by humans.
One of the most important points umair haque makes in the article referenced below is there are no hierarchies. That is the fundamental concept of Mutual Aid. In our Mutual Aid work, we monitor ourselves to avoid any vertical hierarchy from creeping in. That’s something you have to learn and practice when you begin to work in a Mutual Aid community. We are so used to having someone in charge, someone making decisions.
When there isn’t…
