How settler violence is fuelling West Bank tension | Palestinian territories | The Guardian

Baraa Hamamda, 24, ran home to find her three-year-old son, Mohammed, lying in a small pool of blood and apparently lifeless on the bare floor where she had left him asleep. “I thought that’s it, he’s dead,” she says. “He won’t come back.” Mohammed wasn’t dead, though he wouldn’t regain consciousness for more than 11 hours, having been struck on the head by a stone thrown through a window by an Israeli settler, one of dozens who had invaded the isolated village of Al Mufakara, in the West Bank’s rocky, arid south Hebron hills. At about 1.30pm, settlers from the two outposts, Havat Maon and Avigayil – illegal even under Israeli law – which the Palestinian village sits uneasily between, advanced on the flock of a Palestinian shepherd from neighbouring Rakiz, throwing stones and stabbing sheep, killing six of them. More than a dozen of Al Mufakara’s 120 residents retaliated with stones in an attempt to repel the settlers. But the settlers, several armed, rapidly entered the village and, as women barricaded themselves and their children in their homes, left a trail of smashed windows, an overturned car, shattered windscreens, punctured water tanks, slashed tyres, vandalised solar panels – and six injured Palestinians, including Mohammed.

Swiss voters back law behind Covid vaccine certificate | Switzerland | The Guardian

Swiss voters have firmly backed the law behind the country’s Covid pass in a referendum, following a tense campaign that saw unprecedented levels of hostility.

Early results on Sunday showed about two-thirds of voters supported the law, with market researchers GFS Bern projecting 63% backing.

The police fenced off the seat of government and parliament in Bern in anticipation of protests.

Results from 16 of Switzerland’s 26 cantons showed 61.9% had voted in favour of the law, on a 64% turnout.

Never say Never

Inhale Peace; Exhale Love. Joy will Follow! - RUELHA

My mom frequently used this line Through the years, she'd say it all the time "Never say never" Irrespective of whatever Although, she said it so often Only recently, wisdom resurrected from the coffin I should have paid more attention Lesser things I'd learn through practical lessons But, rather late than never That's still considered clever Even worse if you never learn ever You may face consequences too severe Because life will keep repeating lessons It's okay to make mistakes and ask questions But at some point, however late, one must learn At least I, for that really yearn Life is nothing but a learning experience Fall down, get hurt; of course, there'll be grievance It's not a race to a particular destination However exotic be the location There's no fun in just getting there It's the situations that got you to prepare In this particular aspect, mom was right…

No quieren apoyar…

Progress in Treatment of Diabetes

CRAIN'S COMMENTS

The New York Times reports today that a patient received an injection of stem cells that control the production of insulin, and now appears to be free of diabetes. If this holds up, this will be the first time a patient with Type 1 diabetes has been freed from the disease. Type 1 is the child-onset version typically linked to genetic issues.

Stem cell research as a treatment for diabetes has been underway for some time. Of course, this opens the possibility for new treatments for the more common Type 2 diabetes (the adult-onset version) and perhaps a return to earth for insulin pricing as a result.

A small announcement with earth-shaking potential.
