Dignity of Labour…

Man has been doing Labour ever since he began his life. He tills the ground works at the mill, strikes on the anvil and does all type of labour to keep his body and soul together. He might have found manual labour hard and tedious but there was no disrespect attached to it formerly.

Our material progress in this world owes a lot to manual labour. Manual labour led to various scientific inventions. But could we conceive of high buildings, shopping plazas, railways, hospitals, bridges, aeroplanes and all such things without manual labour? Suppose the farmers do not plough and tilll the soil. Can we get the crop if the farmers do not do hard labour? Impossible. There will be no houses to shelter and no clothes to wear our bodies, if the masons. carpenters and weaves do not labour. Manual labour produces material prosperity…
