COVID and Underlying Medical Conditions

The “Fear or anxiety-related disorder” must release chemicals in the body that reduce one’s ability to fight against the effects of the virus…

CRAIN'S COMMENTS

A new analysis of data on 540,667 people admitted to one of 800 hospitals in the US for Covid between March 2020 and March 2021 provides some interesting insights:

  • Covid accounted for 11% of all hospitalizations during that period of time. So much for the skeptics.
  • People with severe COVID tended to have one or more underlying medical conditions, most commonly:
    • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
    • Lipid metabolism disorder
    • Obesity
  • The underlying conditions most strongly associated with death are:
    • Obesity
    • Fear or anxiety-related disorder
    • Diabetes with complications
    • Having multiple underlying disorders

This is the first analysis I’ve seen that links mental state to survival. Apparently, your mental attitude toward your illness affects your ability to get through it.

California backtracks on a rule that bans unmasked students from school campuses.

Additionally, schools should offer alternative educational opportunities for students who are excluded from campus because they will not wear a face covering.

What Now News 24

Last Monday, a new rule issued by the State of California to ban K-12 students from campuses if they refuse to wear masks indoors has been overturned.

The California Department of Health initially published its guidance that K-12 schools should not accept students that refuse to wear masks while indoors, and instead have to be offered alternative educational opportunities. But hours later, the Department of Health backtracked on the rule on Twitter.

California’s school guidance will be clarified regarding masking enforcement, recognizing local schools’ experience in keeping students and educators safe while ensuring schools fully reopen for in-person instruction.

California Department of Health Twitter.

They now allow schools to decide for themselves how it is best to deal with the issue.

Consistent with guidance from the 2020-21 school year, schools must develop and implement local protocols to enforce the mask requirements. Additionally, schools should…

Biden vows to protect ‘sacred’ right to vote from GOP limits – Los Angeles Times

President Biden decried new Republican-backed state laws restricting voting rights on Tuesday, calling them “unconscionable” attempts to “deny the will of the people” — primarily, people of color — and “the most significant test of our democracy since the Civil War.”

“There’s an unfolding assault taking place in American today, an attempt to suppress and subvert the right to vote and free and fair elections — an assault on democracy, an assault on liberty, an assault on who we are, who we are as Americans,” he said in a speech at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, a venue chosen for its symbolic value.

“I am not saying this to alarm you,” he continued, speaking directly to the audience. “You should be alarmed.”

Orchideen in Thailand

Vivaldi translation of introduction: Orchids in Thailand
6. Mai 2018
In Thailand you can see orchids on logos all over the country. On orchid farms you can see about 1300 different species, which grow mainly because of the pleasant climate in northern Thailand. But also in other parts of the country you can visit orchid farms, where the plants are cultivated and can be admired on mostly covered beds and in small parks.

The Case Of Mr. Hervis Rogers

Racists do what racists can get away with – we need to resist, turn on the lights so the roaches scurry and we can out them for good.

Filosofa's Word

Texas, like many other states, has been desperately looking for cases of voter fraud in the 2020 election.  Finding none, they seized on a 62-year-old man … a Black man, naturally … to make an example, to plead their case for the latest round of voter suppression laws they are attempting to pass.  Charles M. Blow, writing for the New York Times, sums up the tragic case of Mr. Hervis Rogers … if this story doesn’t make you sick, doesn’t stir your ire, then I don’t know what will.

The Voter Fraud Fraud

By Charles M. Blow

July 11, 2021

It was March 3, 2020, the day of the Democratic primary in Texas, and Hervis Rogers, a 62-year-old Black man, was intent on making his voice heard at the ballot box. He arrived at the polling place around 7 p.m. and joined the line.

The polling place…

Do You Suffer With Diabetes?

Main stream media not needed to get the word out – am quite sure that Walmart will do its own advertising and that people who use this product will get the news out too.

In Saner Thought

Health care is a contentious issue these days…..and we have a ‘liberal’ Congress so it should be a no-brainer…..but it is anything but a given……let’s look at the Congress….. “Bad news for single payer prospects. With Biden and Dems controlling Congress, liberals in the House are in retreat. Bernie Sanders hasn’t even introduced his bill this year. Corporate giants keep hiking premiums, co-pays, prices, and demanding huge govt subsidies and tax breaks. Worse, health insurance giants race to take over Medicare itself via ‘trojan horse’ Medicare (Dis)Advantage, with Congressional and AARP’s complicity.”

Now on to the diabetes thing.

If you are unlucky enough to have this disease and must take a daily injection of insulin there may be some good news for you.

You know that the insulin you need is expensive and keeps going higher and higher….but Walmart my have an answer….

Walmart says diabetes patients can save up…

Anti-Vax Lunacy

Ditto!!!

Filosofa's Word

I am as stubborn as they come, but I am fully vaccinated.  Why, you ask?  Because I believe that while I have every right to take chances with my own life, I have absolutely NO RIGHT to put others in danger.  It’s called ‘having a social conscience.’  It’s called ‘caring about others.’  It’s called ‘doing the right thing.’

I am appalled by those who have cited every excuse in the book for refusing to be vaccinated against COVID.  This pandemic has killed over 4 million people around the world … 623,029 in the United States, as of this writing, though by the time you are reading it, the number will be even higher.  And WE … You and I … have the key to stopping it in our hands.  If we fail to use that key, then we are complicit in those deaths.

The excuses are myriad and utterly without…
