Simple & Yummy Egg Puffs

Smitha's Bake Love

Star Ingredients: Boiled Egg & Spices

“Incredible” – That’s how I like to say in one word about EGG.

Do you get the feeling that something is missing from the fridge if you don’t see an egg carton in there, somewhere? I do. There is not one day I can go without having eggs in the house.

And if by chance, there is a day, that’s the day I get the itch to make, bake or fry it. So, I most certainly don’t do the mistake of not picking up the extra egg carton in every grocery run.

Ever since I found the farm near my home and its incredible benefits of eating everything local and fresh, my diet has changed for good.

Believe me when I say FARM FRESH eggs taste better than the grocery store ones. For real, you should try it.

So, coming back to our story…

SLEEP, DIABETES AND DEATH

CRAIN'S COMMENTS

A statistical study of 500,000 middle age Brits over a 9 year period finds that those with a combination of diabetes and trouble sleeping have an 87% higher risk of death than their peers without these issues. Diabetes itself raises the risk by 12%.

Obviously, we’re talking about a shorter life expectancy, and this is before COVID. Everyone dies. The question is how short do you want your life to be?

We also know from other research that overweight and diabetes are associated with worse outcomes from COVID. So we would expect the results of this study, if repeated in the COVID era, to be even more dramatic.

The study was conducted by researchers at Northwestern University (Chicago) and the University of Surrey (UK).

The study doesn’t distinguish between sleep apnea, insomnia, stress, incontinence or other factors that make for a bad night. Poor sleep with diabetes puts you at…

Ulcer-Inducing Mini Rants

Filosofa's Word

Tonight’s min-rants have me growling, my ulcer flared up, and I will probably need a few hours of winding down before I can sleep.  But, rather than jump straight into a rant, let’s start out with something I found at least mildly humorous …

A bit of humour …

One of my many daily newsletters had this paragraph in talking about the comparison between the former guy and the UK’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson, affectionately called BoJo in the UK …

There’s been talk about how Biden and Johnson — whom the President’s predecessor referred to as “Britain Trump” — won’t get on. After all, Johnson, like the 45th US President, is a populist who won power by courting blue-collar grievance, had an itinerant love life, a distant acquaintance with the truth and a blond edifice on his head that defies gravity.

That last part about the hair especially made…

Pirineji-Mon Perdi, Francuska, Španija – , France, Spain

Vivaldi translation of title and first sentence: Pyrenees-Mon Perdi, France, Spain -, France, Spain
Despite the fact that over the past century, industrial development has fundamentally changed the habits of mountain communities across Europe, it is not uncommon in the spring to meet shepherds grazing their flocks on the higher slopes of the Pyrenees.

Myrela

Thoughtful Thursdays, Stayed on Freedom with the Call of Freedom, and Libraries as Safe Spaces

Context, Thought, and Learning: ShiraDest Offers Project Do Better

Who remembers the role that public libraries played in bringing neighbors together?

So, how do we each help our society to become more fully inclusive for all of us now, and to come and work together, for all of us?

I believe that attention to shared histories of times when a certain library in DC helped, may provide part of an answer.  I started a note about that, a few years ago, in my book Stayed on Freedom’s Call:

” …Carnegie Public Library. Some working class neighborhoods, such as the SW neighborhood where Al Jolson learned the speaking style he would later play on
stage, allowed limited mixing. The annual Easter Monday Egg Rolling contest was, however, the only officially non-segregated social event in the city for many years. Despite this, or because of it, Washington, DC was eventually
declared the most segregated city in the Union. That artificial…

What’s Cooking in Gail’s Kitchen? The Chow Down: Edamame Spicy Stix! You’ve probably been to a restaurant where the server placed a bowl of edamame on the table, in lieu of the bread basket. Next to it was an empty bowl for placing the discarded pods. If it was a first for you, no worries. Friends, this is one time you are allowed to eat with your fingers. Truth. Simply pick up one pod with your fingers and put it in your mouth, not letting go. Bite down with your teeth and slide the beans out as you pull the pod away. photo: Yanomami: shamanic transformation – Barbara Crane Navarro

«The gold prospectors became very many in our forest highlands, destroying the river’s headwaters and killing their inhabitants with their diseases. The gold miners are earth-eaters, evil beings! Their thought is empty and they are full of epidemic smoke! We must prevent them soiling our rivers and chase them out of the forest.

All the most valiantxapirispirits come down to fight thexawaraepidemic and gather in an innumerable troop to confront it. When it really becomes too dangerous and they must save their people from death, our shaman elders even make the epidemic’s own image dance … once it becomes axapirispirit, it bravely fights the white people’s dangerous metal smoke… This is how our great shamans sometimes succeeded in driving this fierce disease away and curing its victims in the past. Yet most often thexawaraepidemic proves tougher…
