Electric school buses: a part of Biden’s infrastructure plan with big benefits – Vox

Overall, the strongest case for electric school buses is a simple one. When children are sent off to school on diesel buses, society is sabotaging them: asking them to learn and study while breathing in air that makes that harder. It’s worth spending some money and solving some technical challenges to give every child the breathing room to learn. Myanmar Regime Detains Family of NLD Fugitive, Including Three Children

Myanmar’s security forces have detained the family of a Bago Region National League for Democracy (NLD) information officer, including three young children, after failing to arrest him.

Ko Ja Lay is in hiding after he was charged under Article 25 of the Disaster Management Law in February for allegedly interacting with a crowd during the coronavirus pandemic. Following the coup, he led anti-regime protests in Thayawady Township, Bago Region. The military has since pressured his family, demanding he hand himself in to the police.

A New Coronavirus Wave Hits Chile, Despite Vaccine Success – The New York Times

But experts say the country’s speedy and efficient vaccination drive — only Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Seychelles have vaccinated a larger share of their populations — gave Chileans a false sense of security and contributed to a sharp spike in new infections and deaths that is overloading the health care system.

The surge in cases, even as more than one-third of Chile’s population has received at least the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, serves as a cautionary tale for other nations looking to vaccination drives to quickly put an end to the era of beleaguered economies, closed borders and social distancing. The rise in cases prompted a new set of strict lockdown measures that have restricted mobility for much of the country, affecting nearly 14 million people.

Iran and U.S. Agree on Path Back to Nuclear Deal – The New York Times

The United States and Iran agreed through intermediaries on Tuesday to establish two working groups to try to get both countries back into compliance with the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

In a meeting of the current members of the deal in Vienna, all parties agreed to establish one working group to focus on how to get the United States back to the deal by lifting harsh economic sanctions imposed or reimposed after President Donald J. Trump pulled out of the accord in May 2018.

The other working group will focus on how to get Iran back into compliance with the accord’s limitations on nuclear enrichment and stockpiles of enriched uranium.

Start Here: a guide for parents of autistic kids | Autistic Self Advocacy Network

Too often, when parents find out their kid is autistic, they receive negative messages from all sides. Many resources available to parents stigmatize autism and talk about it as something to be “overcome,” not as a part of who an autistic child is. At ASAN, we’ve heard from many parents of autisic children who wish they’d had a better resource to learn about autism — one that cuts through myths and misconceptions and explains autism from an autistic perspective. And we’ve heard from many of our autistic community members who wish their families had access to that kind of information when they were growing up. That’s what our new booklet, “Start Here: A Guide for Parents of Autistic Kids” is for!
