By the end of March, Pfizer plans to ship more than 13 million vaccine doses per week to the United States; Moderna plans to deliver 100 million doses; and Johnson & Johnson expects to ship at least 20 million doses. This means that by the end of March, the United States is on track to receive 240 million doses. By mid-year, we should receive about 700 million doses, which is enough to vaccinate our entire population. By the end of the year there should be 2 billion doses for the whole world.

Coronavirus tracker: California reported 3,495 new cases, 228 new deaths and 149 fewer hospitalizations Feb. 21

The end-of-day totals from California public health websites for Sunday, Feb. 21, reported 3,495 new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases there have been in the state to 3,509,219.

The 14-day total of new cases, 8,188, is down 80.6% from the Jan. 1 high of 42,268.

There were 228 new deaths reported Sunday, for a total of 49,340 people in California who have died from the virus.

There were 7,165 people needing hospital care, a 68.7% drop since the Jan. 1 high of 22,853.
