  1. The state exchanges don’t have to comply with the Federal Exchange. In New Jersey’s case, once Biden announced the Special Enrollment Period (SEP), the state opted simply to keep enrollment in continuous operation. So the NJ SEP stated on 1 February.

    A very important note is that the SEP is for people who have insurance as well as those who don’t. If someone is unhappy with their existing plan, they can use the SEP to make a change. However, they may have to start over with the deductible if they do.
