Biogen conference in Boston likely linked to as many as 300,000 COVID-19 cases worldwide, researchers say | Boston.com (our pandemic future)

It likely took just one of the 175 people gathered in February at a Biogen conference at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf hotel to ignite a COVID-19 wildfire. Within a week, attendees began falling ill. More than 99 would ultimately test positive. By then, many of them had hopped aboard planes to head home or even attend other conferences. And the spread only exploded from there.

Between 205,000 and 300,000 COVID-19 cases across the nation and around the world can likely be traced back to the two-day Boston conference, according to Jacob Lemieux, the lead author of a new study published Thursday in the journal Science.

Manhattan D.A. Intensifies Investigation of Trump – The New York Times

It remains unclear whether the office of the Manhattan district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., will ultimately bring charges. The prosecutors have been fighting in court for more than a year to obtain Mr. Trump’s personal and corporate tax returns, which they have called central to their investigation. The issue now rests with the Supreme Court. But lately, Mr. Vance’s office has stepped up its efforts, issuing new subpoenas and questioning witnesses, including some before a grand jury, according to the people with knowledge of the matter, who requested anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the investigation. The grand jury appears to be serving an investigative function, allowing prosecutors to authenticate documents and pursue other leads, rather than considering any charges.

Like another modern Odyssey, where masses of human bodies are constantly moving in all possible directions, the adventure of Odysseus seems more relevant than ever.

The Odyssey Chronicle is one of those stories where it is constantly repeated more than perhaps any other story. It is one of those wonderful linguistic metaphors, where they fit almost automatically and at the same time so unexpectedly in every conversation, activating parallel associations and chain thoughts. Odysseus’ long journey can be interpreted in many ways. To be precise, it will be interpreted mainly as an adventure, suffering, risk or as a heroic event. Interpretations appropriate enough to describe many current situations, but even more so the constant movement – especially of young people – to other worlds, different.

Lignes invisibiles

What’s Your Superpower?

MiddleMe

I am weird. Of course, besides that, I have a superpower that is mostly unknown to others except by a few loved ones. I didn’t know I have it until people around started to point it out and slowly, it became obvious to me that I have a certain superpower to make people talk. Oh, I don’t mean with whips and lashes or even with handcuffs. Remember, violence is never the solution folks!

Weird Vibe?

I kind of have an aura around me, which my husband would like to call a ‘weird vibe’ that seems to attract people, even strangers, to want to talk to me.

The only thing is that the longer they talk to me, the more they reveal about themselves. Eventually, without inhibition or intention, they bare their secrets out even if I never ask probing questions or deliberately start a conversation.

Usually, it can be as…

“I am crazy about books. Now, imagine, is there anything better than the feeling of laughing alone? My God, a book is often worth more than many friendships. Nothing against friendships, but they, like books, are not known by the cover ”.

The Kraken Is Dead: Sidney Powell’s Final Lawsuit Just Got Dismissed

Federal judges do not appoint the president in this country,” U.S. District Judge Pamela Pepper wrote in a 45-page ruling.

“One wonders why the plaintiffs came to federal court and asked a federal judge to do so. After a week of sometimes odd and often harried litigation, the court is no closer to answering the ‘why.’ But this federal court has no authority or jurisdiction to grant the relief the remaining plaintiff seeks.”

Just like her colleagues in Michigan, Georgia, and Arizona before her, Pepper was faced with a lawsuit that was littered with baseless allegations and conspiracy theories, as well as typos and factual inaccuracies — which the judge was only too happy to point out.
