In exchange for government money, the Jerusalem Post published a special supplement in June 2019 titled “Unmasking BDS,” as part of the ministry’s attempts to delegitimize the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement. Within the supplement’s pages, top journalists at the paper interviewed officials from the ministry as well as members of organizations abroad that work in concert with it. Other interviewees included Republican Senator and former U.S. presidential candidate Ted Cruz, who was described as a “brave warrior” for Israel.
The deal between the Jerusalem Post and the Strategic Affairs Ministry, which was mediated by Israel’s Government Advertising Agency, was revealed for the first time last month, following a freedom of information request filed by the Seventh Eye.
On its face, the supplement appears to be a combination of a Jerusalem Post project and an advertising pamphlet, although nowhere does it directly declare that the ministry paid for its content. In contrast, the articles and columns from the supplement that were published on the Jerusalem Post’s website do not inform readers in any way that they are, in fact, reading government propaganda.

Every year, sea ice cover in the Arctic Ocean shrinks to a low point in mid-September. This year it measures just 1.44 million square miles (3.74 million square kilometers) – the second-lowest value in the 42 years since satellites began taking measurements. The ice today covers only 50% of the area it covered 40 years ago in late summer. As the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has shown, carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are higher than at any time in human history. The last time that atmospheric CO2 concentrations reached today’s level – about 412 parts per million –…

“Facebook is choosing to be on the wrong side of history,” warned Chandwaney in the letter, which was posted on the company’s internal message board. “I can no longer stomach contributing to an organisation that is profiting off hate in the US and globally.”

A developer’s powerful resignation letter is the latest condemnation of the social network’s attitude to hate speech
At the beginning of last month, a Facebook software engineer, Ashok Chandwaney, resigned and published a blistering public letter, excoriating the company for its failure to tackle hate.
“Facebook is choosing to be on the wrong side of history,” warned Chandwaney in the letter, which was posted on the company’s internal message board. “I can no longer stomach contributing to an organisation that is profiting off hate in the US and globally.”
Severe civil unrest in ultra-Orthodox communities broke out on Sunday, as police sought to enforce the national coronavirus lockdown in several cities, resulting in violent resistance and, in some instances, aggressive police action. Violent confrontations broke out between police and haredi (ultra-Orthodox) radicals in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak and Betar Illit, and more than 20 rioters were arrested.

What is concerning in this incident is that the police were nowhere to be seen. Despite it being well known that the Belz community is praying en masse without regard for social distancing, mask wearing, or any health regulations, law enforcement authorities have apparently decided to ignore this enormous violation of the rule of law.
They appear, in fact, to have tacitly accepted that such areas are extraterritorial to its authority.
This state of affairs has huge consequences for the nation, in particular the state’s ability to bind the ultra-Orthodox sector more tightly into the fabric of society and form a more cohesive country.
If in the Jewish state large sections of the population can decide for themselves which laws to obey and which to ignore, the ability of the country to maintain internal solidarity and continue to overcome the many challenges it faces, internally and externally, will surely come under ever-increasing strain. Wisconsin health officials on Saturday said the state set a single-day record for COVID-19 cases with nearly 2,900 positive tests. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported a 20.5% positivity rate from 14,084 tests that were processed in the last day. The previous record for new cases in a single day came on Thursday, with 2,887.

Mother’s milk could prevent or treat Covid-19, according to a new study by Chinese scientists.
A research team in Beijing tested the effect of human breast milk on cells exposed to the Sars-CoV-2 virus. The milk was collected in 2017, well before the start of the pandemic, and the cell types tested varied from animal kidney cells to young human lung and gut cells.
The results were the same: most living virus strains were killed by the milk.
