BEIJING (BLOOMBERG) – Consumers in the Chinese city of Shenzhen have been urged to exercise caution when buying imported frozen food after a surface sample of chicken wings from Brazil tested positive for coronavirus, according to a statement from the local government.

The positive sample appears to have been taken from the surface of the meat, while previously reported positive cases from other Chinese cities have been from the surface of packaging on imported frozen seafood.

The chicken came from an Aurora Alimentos plant in the southern state of Santa Catarina, according to a registration number given in the statement.

Virus tests of people who have possibly come into contact with the product, and tests of related products, all came back negative, the statement said.

Consumers should be cautious when buying imported frozen foods and aquatic products, the government added.

Three packaging samples of imported frozen seafood tested positive for Covid-19 in Yantai, a northern city of China’s Shandong province, the city government said on its official Weibo account on Tuesday (Aug 11) .

State television on Wednesday reported that the outside of an Ecuador frozen shrimp package tested positive for the virus in a restaurant in Wuhu, a city in China’s Anhui province.

Idaho Lawmaker: “Listening To Experts Is An Elitist Approach” To Coronavirus Restrictions | Boise State Public Radio – (he really said that – dumber than a rotten potato!)

“Listening to experts to set policy is an elitist approach and I’m very fearful of an elitist approach,” he said. “I’m also fearful that it leads to totalitarianism, especially when you say, ‘Well. We’re doing it for the public good.’”

DeSantis blames ‘data dump’ for spike in coronavirus cases and orders a ‘fix’ to reporting numbers – Orlando Sentinel (the only dump involved is the Governor’s dump on facts and pumping up lies)

The state logged 8,109 cases to push the overall total to date to 550,901, or more than one in 40 people in the state of 21.5 million.

That is 18 days of case numbers of less than 10,000, but the 8,109 marks the highest daily tally in August so far. The Wednesday update also noted a positivity infection rate that had crept back up from recent lows to 11.89% among new infections.

Deaths also continue to pile up, a result of massive spread in June and early July. The latest report added another 212 fatalities among Florida residents to the state death toll rose to 8,765.

  • Another leader of the group has called the Holocaust a hoax and, citing the conspiracy website Infowars, has argued that there is no such thing as a truly peaceful Black Lives Matter protest.
  • The rally will also feature the founder of Cowboys for Trump, who recently said Black athletes who protest racism should “go back to Africa.”

Kenneth Lougee: Mask refusal is not liberty. It is anarchy. – The Salt Lake Tribune

In 1905, The United State Supreme Court expressed support for universal smallpox vaccine.

“The liberty secured by the Constitution of the United States to every person within its jurisdiction does not import an absolute right in each person to be, at all times and in all circumstances, wholly freed from restraint,” the court decided. “There are manifold restraints to which every person is necessarily subject for the common good. On any other basis organized society could not exist with safety to its members.”

The court said that otherwise we would not have liberty but anarchy. That is equally true of wearing face masks to protect others from virus spread. This includes the elderly, health workers and the immune compromised.
