Michelle Bachelet says Australia has been scrutinised according to international standards it helped create
The high commissioner for human rights has pushed back on Scott Morrison’s recent criticism of the United Nations, noting the scrutiny Australia has received is based on international standards it helped create.
In a speech to a human rights conference in Sydney, Michelle Bachelet also urged Australian parliamentarians not to repeal the medevac laws, and to roll back mandatory detention policies.

Trump – the ‘very stable genius’ – is no stranger to narcissistic statements, and he was at it again on Monday afternoon
Donald Trump perhaps broke a record for aggrandizement on Monday, when he referred to his “great and unmatched wisdom” following his decision to withdraw US troops from northern Syria.
Trump is no stranger to grandiose, narcissistic statements. He has frequently referred to himself as a “very stable genius” – and not tongue-in-cheek. He actually did so recently, in reference to his controversial phone call to the Ukraine president, Volodmyr Zelenskiy, which sparked an impeachment inquiry into him.
Analysts said the redeployment would betray America’s Syrian Kurdish allies, decrease American leverage in Syria and open a void that could benefit Iran, Russia and the Islamic State.
The US President promises to destroy the Turkish economy after criticism from within his own party for withdrawing from Syria and abandoning US-allied Kurdish forces.
“I guess you probably know the numbers were extremely lopsided, right? I’m just trying to figure out the few people who voted the other way. Who are they? Who are they? Find out who they are, please, and let us know.” – Trump once told Police Officers to figure out who voted against him.
Faced with the prospect of his Impeachment and Imprisonment Trump is melting down and threatens to destroy the Nation with him. Whatever control rods once kept Trump’s wanton runaway criminality in check early on have been removed and he is surrounded by his idiot sons and venal sycophants.
It’s unsurprising Trump sought out and was fed rightwing conspiracy theories by his cadre of traitors and criminals. Propaganda has won. Conservatives exist only inside their echo-chamber; emitting, inhaling, and regurgitating lies about the Democratic Party and deep state plots against The Chosen One. Of course, conservatives have a habit of getting high on their own supply of propaganda so, Trump believes there are secrets in Ukraine and all he needed to do was use a foreign intelligence service to bring down his political rivals. Trump’s favorite journalist Glenn Greenwald has repeatedly told him the U.S. Government does the same thing, so turnabout is fair play.
At this point, Trump believes his best strategy is to brazenly commit more and more crimes out in the open. His Maga Horde will never believe Trump has done anything wrong, while at the same time they descend upon any story or news report and spam and troll comments.
But, as Traitor Trump screeches there now is the real prospect of conservatives ramping up their domestic terrorist campaign. Ramping up is the key because conservatives are already engaged in low-level violence against the Nation. Paramilitary conservatives don’t believe they will defeat the US military in open warfare, what the Oathbreakers and other groups believe is their initial terror campaign will incite a reaction and as violence escalates the National Guard, Law Enforcement, and eventually the military will get involved; then the majority of those organizations will join the Maga Horde as the Oathbreakers valiantly take back America as the tip of the spear.
Of course, if this happens and people die and the country fractures it doesn’t matter to Trump because his goal has always been to enrich himself and his spawn and access to grift billions from the US Treasury and Department of Defense budget was the ultimate prize.
I went to the Lynching Memorial in Montgomery, Alabama today. Each hanging block represents a county in a southern state and has the names of the victims and the date of their deaths. Some blocks had hundreds of names.
