Another Palestinian child killed…. coldly…harshly…by the army of the most democratic state in the ME

Rest in peace and mercy upon you. May the killer someday soon realize how wrong and evil the killing was.

this boy was targeted by Israeli snipers … this is what he was doing moments before they shot him to his death…

Sometimes, as in this time, words fail me.

Shading #atozchallenge #children

Shading poems

poetry penned in moon dust

give me a crayon

a paper of my own

leave me to create

a space all alone

a quiet, a calm

 a world you can’t touch

when I’m done I’m so proud

happiness doesn’t take much

huts and livestock

trees in the breeze clap their hands

children coloring

It is no surprise that Ugandan children love crafts. Coloring or as Ugandans call it Shading can quiet the loudest group of children. Intent are they to create with color.

Natalie Portman Decides Against Israel Honor, Cancels Trip

Bethlehem/PNN/

Natalie Portman has decided against receiving an honor in Israel and canceled her trip to accept the prize, according to the organization that had planned to salute the actress.

The Genesis Prize, which honors notable individuals “who inspire others through their dedication to the Jewish community and Jewish values,” has canceled its annual ceremony in Israel after Portman’s decision to not take part in the June event.

The actress had been announced as the honoree in November by the organization.

“Ms. Portman is a highly accomplished actress, a committed social activist and a wonderful human being. The staff of the Foundation enjoyed getting to know her over the past six months, admires her humanity, and respects her right to publicly disagree with the policies of the government of Israel,” read a statement from the Genesis Prize Foundation.

The foundation added: “However, we are very saddened that she has decided not to attend the Genesis Prize Ceremony in Jerusalem for political reasons. We fear that Ms. Portman’s decision will cause our philanthropic initiative to be politicized, something we have worked hard for the past five years to avoid.”

Portman’s rep declined to comment:” ‘The mistreatment of those suffering from today’s atrocities is simply not in line with my Jewish values. Because I care about Israel, I must stand up against violence, corruption, inequality and abuse of power’.

In December, singer Lorde canceled a planned concert date in Israeli city Tel Aviv amid protests for artists to boycott performing in the country. Earlier in 2017, Radiohead similarly faced criticism ahead of its July 19 concert in the city. Frontman Thom Yorke addressed protesters in a Rolling Stone interview a month before the show, saying, “There’s an awful lot of people who don’t agree with the [Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions] movement, including us. I don’t agree with the cultural ban at all.”

Portman, who was born in Jerusalem, has openly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the past, telling The Hollywood Reporter in a 2015 interview, “I’m very much against Netanyahu. Against. I am very, very upset and disappointed that he was re-elected.”

Increased pressure for visiting artists or prominent personalities planning to visit Israel has been applied by the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions group, which protests the Jewish state over its treatment of of the Palestinians and the West Bank.

After 26 Oscar nominees were given Israel tour packages as part of their 2017 Academy Awards swag bags, for instance, BDS issued a statement urging stars not to take the offer and none of the nominees used the offers to travel to Israel.

Previous Hollywood honorees of the Genesis Prize include actor Michael Douglas and musician Itzhak Perlman, who has performed scores for films including Schindler’s List, Hero and Memoirs of a Geisha.

After decades of egregious human rights violations against Palestinians, Israel’s recent massacre of peaceful protesters in Gaza has made its brand so toxic that even well-known Israeli-American cultural figures, like Natalie Portman, now refuse to blatantly whitewash, or art-wash, Israeli crimes and apartheid policies.

The Palestinian-led, Nobel Peace Prize nominated Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement for Palestinian rights has been growing in the cultural mainstream in the last few years. Of the twenty six Oscar nominees in 2016, none has accepted an all-expense-paid Israeli propaganda junket.

Natalie Portman said on Friday night that she does not support the Boycott, Divesment, and Sanctions movement, and that her decision not to attend the Genesis Prize…

Senses imbalance

nadiaharhash

In an enigmatic lecture, Dr. Nadira Shalhoub presented her work under the title of ” the occupation of Senses.” The description was timely and sensual I would say. Thinking of how far occupation has reached in violating us, our senses are not of any exception … on the contrary, it is all systemized in a manner that occupying “senses” become just a sense.

Amid the flaw of sensations I was having, I thought of the lecturer, a graduate of the Hebrew University and a lecturer there. How reliable is she or how confused her senses were, I could not but think.

A week later comes the march of return… I go there with the hopeful sense of getting my blood pumped with national feelings of Return. Driving all the way to the destroyed village of Atrit in Haifa, swallowed in a valley surrounded by Israeli police and, as if, intended scenery, with Israelis celebrating…
