Rising to Imbolc
The morning in the garden is bitterly cold.
These are the days before Imbolc.
These are the photographs of Bealtaine Cottage gardens in the days before Imbolc 2015
Magical days, filled to the brim with anticipation, a sense of urgency too, as the precious days of sleep and hibernation in the gardens comes to a close.
As I walk around the gardens this morning, I become increasingly aware of short time left in which to prune and cut back, clear and prepare, the gardens for Spring and Summer.
Ah, Summer, just the thought of Summer on this cold, white morning of late Winter, comforts the bones.
The days of walking barefoot in the damp grass lie ahead of me.
The promise of a warm Summer makes the cold of the day recoil.
Imbolc heralds Spring here in the West of Ireland.
It is one of the four big Celtic celebrations…

Once… #martinlutherking #poetry
…There were men who dreamed
and spoke of life
like it mattered
color was something you mixed
and children held hands
innocence gathered
…There were steps and leaps
made on the moon
heroes wore khaki uniforms
still made on a loom
and children held hands
while the wind blew
…A flag fluttered in the breeze
no matter the colors
a people saluted
and were proud and believed
and children held hands
knowing the truth
Once there was a vision
equal wasn’t a math sign
people one – red white and blue
who lived for right and wrong
and children held hands
and with crayons they drew
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”

Kelp Losing Their Grip on the Seafloor : Image of the Day
No denying this –
kelp in trouble! Cool, subarctic waters once bathed Tasmania’s east coast, but warmer waters (as much as 2.5°C (4.3°F) warmer) have brought invasive species that feast on giant kelp. Compounding the matter, the overfishing of rock lobsters has removed a key predator of the long-spined sea urchins that feed on kelp. The ecosystem’s newly protected status could help curb overfishing and restore the lobsters, which would help diminish the threat from sea urchins.
For now, researchers are continuing to use Landsat to monitor the kelp forests and establish trends may shed more light on what is happening off of Tasmania and California. Through a project known as “Floating Forests,” they have enlisted citizen scientists to help understand the decline in kelp. To learn more about how to participate in the proj

When I’m No Longer Young And Beautiful. | Rebelle Society
And in listening to the music, I remind myself that the moments between songs, the bridges, the restful lulls are where I anchor my awareness so as to not be overrun by the intensity of it all. To remind myself that I am here, now.
So that when I am no longer young and beautiful, I will remember the music. And the music will take me back.

How the People Can Outwit the Global Domination Plans of Agribusiness | Raging Bull-shit
One is a vision, the other is a nightmare: in every single case where industrial agriculture is implemented it leaves landscapes progressively emptier of life. Eventually, because it vaporizes the carbon, the soil turns either into mud that washes into the rivers or into dust that blows away on the wind. Industrial agriculture has no long term future; it is ecological suicide. But for obvious reasons those who profit from it cannot allow all this to become broadly understood. That is why the food scarcity lie is so fundamental to them. They absolutely depend on it, since it alone can camouflage the underlying issues.

Gayatri Mantra: 108 peaceful chants
uncle zara wrote this long ago and gave to world
Wiki:
The Gāyatrī Mantra is a highly revered mantra of the Vedic tradition. Just like all the Vedic Mantras, the Gayatri Mantra is considered not to have an author and like all other mantras is believed to have been revealed to a Brahmarshi, in this case Brahmarshi Vishvamitra. This is a Vedic Sanskrit verse from a hymn of the Rigveda (3.62.10). Gayatri is the name of the meter in which the verse is composed.[1] The most interesting aspect of the mantra is that the mantra is considered to be not different from the divine entity that forms the content of the mantra. Thus the name of the divine entity contained in the mantra is also Gayatri. In other words, the Gayatri mantra is not just a means of worship but is an object of worship in itself. The word ‘Gayatri’ is used both in…

Judge Mental! : Judge Joanna Greenberg QC
No words to describe her villainy = A religious studies teacher who repeatedly had sex with a pupil and took her virginity on the floor of a school cupboard was spared jail today after a judge said he had been ‘groomed’ by his victim.
Congratulations go to Judge Joanna Greenberg QC who wins the ‘Judge Mental’ Award this time for her ‘blame the victim’ attitude to justice.
This resulted in Stuart Kerner a 44 year old RE (yes that is Religious Education) teacher who had sex with a 16 year old pupil on school premises to walk away from court with an 18 month suspended sentence.
OF course, blaming women for the lust of men has ancient religious roots that Stuart Kerner will be very well aware of but who’d have thought Judge Joanna Greenberg QC would have shared them ?
“She pursued you. Her friends said she was stalking you. She hung around where she would be near you. She had been obsessed with you for a long time.’There is no evidence you encouraged her in any way. There is no evidence you groomed her. If anything it was she who groomed you. You gave way to…
