A man was cleaning his 45-caliber pistol in Sheffield, Ala., Tuesday evening and it discharged, leaving his neighbor fighting for his life. When the gun went off, it entered the apartment next door, striking the neighbor in the upper torso. Police said the man could face charges for the shooting. “It was stupid, stupid what happened,” said Sheffield Police Chief Greg Ray.
