A man sitting on a porch across the street from an elementary school in Birmingham, Ala., was shot multiple times with an assault weapon Tuesday afternoon. The victim tried to evade the gunfire, running for a short distance before falling to the ground. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. There are no suspects in custody.
